Newsweek: Donald Trump Rages at Judges After Deportation Setback: ‘No Retribution’

Trump said that millions of people would not be able to have trials, as the government already knew who the criminals were, and it was necessary to get them out of the country as soon as possible.

Dangerously (and unconstitutionally) flawed reasoning!

Guardian: Ice seeking out unaccompanied immigrant children to deport or prosecute

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) officials are seeking out unaccompanied immigrant children in operations nationwide with a view to deporting them or pursuing criminal cases against them or adult sponsors sheltering them legally in the US, according to sources and an Ice document.

In recent months, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Ice have begun engaging in “welfare checks” on children who arrived in the US alone, usually via the US-Mexico border, to “ensure that they are safe and not being exploited”, according to a DHS spokesperson.

Although DHS is characterizing the welfare visits as benevolent, an internal Ice document accessed by the National Immigration Project advocacy group and then shared shows Ice is also seeking out children who came into the US alone as immigrants – and their US-based sponsors – for immigration enforcement purposes and/or to pursue criminal prosecutions. The recent operations and document confirm a February report from Reuters, that the Trump administration has directed Ice to track down and deport this group.

How does one “[pursue] criminal cases against them or adult sponsors sheltering them LEGALLY in the US”? These creeps will do anything to get their numbers up.

Kansas City Star: Trump Insults CNN Reporter For ‘Hating’ America

President Donald Trump met with El Salvador President Nayib Bukele in the Oval Office to discuss Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national wrongly deported to El Salvador’s CECO prison complex. The administration called Abrego Garcia’s removal an administrative error. A Supreme Court ruling declared his deportation illegal and ordered the administration to help him return to the U.S.

During the meeting, CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins asked both leaders about the process for Abrego Garcia’s return. When Collins pressed for details, Trump shifted focus to insult her, calling her “low-rated” and saying CNN “hates our country.”

NBC News: Students and faculty demand Columbia University stand up to federal government

Columbia University students, faculty, staff and alumni launched a “speak out” Monday to criticize school leaders for bowing to the Trump administration’s demands after it pulled $400 million in federal funding from the campus.

Hundreds of students, faculty, staff and alumni were expected to take part in the 25-hour event that organizers said was intended to amplify a growing position within the Columbia community that the school administration had caved-in to Washington and that the school’s academic freedom was under attack.

The Trump administration told the university last month that it would reinstate the school’s federal funding if it met certain demands, including banning masks on campus and holding disciplinary hearings for student protesters

Students and faculty said they had some demands of their own for the university: fight back against federal attacks; protect and defend students and international scholars; re-establish diversity policies; and protect researchers.

Professors at the rally hoisted signs reading, “Columbia Fight Back,” “Defend Freedom of Speech” and “Protect our Students.”

Authorities have apprehended at least three Columbia students in recent weeks, including graduate student Mahmoud Khalil, who was involved in student protests last year.

Independent: Elon Musk’s ‘efficiency’ team is quietly building a vast immigration tracking database

Musk’s team is using the highly sensitive data it has gathered to build a “master database” at the Department of Homeland Security that could be used to “track and surveil” undocumented immigrants, WIRED reported last week.

….

“The Trump-Musk Administration is infiltrating agencies and weaponizing the information they steal to target and attack America’s immigrant communities,” Connolly said. “DOGE’s dystopian demand for the sensitive, personal data of millions of Americans and immigrants is alarming, especially as this Administration abducts and disappears people off our streets without due process — including immigrants with legal status — and in light of President Trump’s chilling admission that he plans to target American citizens, or ‘home growns,’ next.”

Gabe Lezra, policy and advocacy director at State Democracy Defenders Action, told The Independent that what’s happening “should horrify every American.”

“The Trump–Musk regime sold DOGE to the American people as a way to cut costs and streamline government. What they actually created was Big Brother,” Lezra said. “This isn’t just about giving bad actors in our own government access to deeply personal data – like your party registration, charitable givings, medical history, citizenship status, and financial records. It’s also because we cannot have confidence that DOGE can keep this database safe–particularly because malicious foreign actors will immediately make this database their number one target,” he added.

Irish Star: Irish woman living legally in US for 30 years detained after visit to Ireland

A woman who has been living in the US for more than 30 years was taken into detention by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement after she paid a visit to her sick father in Ireland.

Cliona Ward, 54, went to the US in her early teens and has been residing in Santa Cruz, California, for over three decades. She recently traveled back to Ireland, a country not on the impossible immigration list, with her stepmother to visit her father, who has dementia. Upon her return, Ward was questioned about 20-year-old drug possession convictions that have reportedly been “expunged” under state but not under federal law.

Ward was reportedly released, but when she returned to the airport last Monday to show documentation to officials from US Customs and Border Protection recording how the convictions had been expunged, she was taken into custody just weeks after ICE detain students over visa issues.

According to the enforcement agency’s website, Ward is being held in an ICE facility in Tacoma, Washington state. According to reports, she is due before the courts on May 7th.

Alternet: ‘Another Trump in the future’: Why international allies may ditch the US for good

The global community is reportedly concerned about the potential emergence of another leader like President Donald Trump after the end of his term in 2029.

The New York Times reported that given these concerns, international allies are forging trade partnerships and security alliances independent of the United States, with the European Union and South American nations recently establishing a significant trade zone.

Ian Goldin, a professor at Oxford, told the Times that he believes Trump’s MAGA following and its motivations — rooted in economic insecurity and inequality — will persist beyond Trump’s presidency.

“The MAGA base and JD Vance will still be around long after Trump’s gone,” Goldin said. ‘No matter who next occupies the White House, the conditions that propelled the ‘Make America Great Again’ movement — widening inequality and economic insecurity — remain. For the rest of the world, there is still a worry, he said, that there could be ‘another Trump in the future’,” he said.

Daily Beast: Leavitt [Bimbo #1] Opens Way to Massive Move Against Immigrants’ Rights

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt [Bimbo #1] refused to shut down speculation that Donald Trump could suspend due process for migrants.

Leavitt [Bimbo #1] was asked about pausing the writ of habeas corpus at a hastily announced press briefing on Monday morning focused on immigration.

Habeas corpus, which is preserved in Article I of the Constitution, is the legal process that allows the courts to review whether a person is being wrongly detained or imprisoned.

“The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it,” it reads.

The Trump administration has been accused of denying migrants due process in an effort to quickly remove them from the U.S. and has faced off with multiple judges over its mass deportation effort.

Leavitt [Bimbo #1] insisted that the administration will continue to deport undocumented immigrants.

“The president is open to all remedies to do that,” she said.

Stocktwits: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent Says It’s Up To China To De-Escalate Tariff Wars: ‘They Sell 5 Times More To Us Than We Sell To Them’

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reportedly said on Monday that China has the responsibility to de-escalate the ongoing tariff war and asserted that its high tariffs are unsustainable.

“I believe that it’s up to China to de-escalate, because they sell five times more to us than we sell to them, and so these 120%, 145% tariffs are unsustainable,” Bessent told CNBC.

LOL! You buffoons dug your own graves. It’s up to you to dig your way out, if you can. I doubt China cares much at this point, now that you’ve made the U.S.A. the laughingstock of the world.

New York Times: In Marin County, There’s Trouble in Teslaville

Tesla’s sleek electric vehicles used to be a status symbol in liberal Mill Valley, Calif. Now, they are despised by many — including those who drive them.

In the parking lots of Mill Valley, Calif., mysterious index cards have surfaced on the windshields of Tesla Model Xs and Model 3s.

“Stop Elon,” they urge in teal script. “Dump your Tesla.”

A few years ago, buying a Tesla in Mill Valley meant that you had money, but were not overly showy. It meant you were a progressive environmentalist who had style.

It meant you belonged.

Ten miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, tucked into the lush, green hills of Marin County, Mill Valley is an idyllic place to live — for those who are wealthy and liberal.

And for years, Teslas were “the Ferrari for the Patagonia-wearing crowd,” said Nathan Ballard, a political consultant who lives in Mill Valley and owns a black Tesla Model S.

But the sleek electric cars have come to mean something else entirely for Mill Valley residents since the presidential election.
