Daily Mail: Trump takes sledgehammer to NASA budget to fund Elon’s billion-dollar dream

The White House has announced the largest cut to NASA‘s budget in its history.

The Trump administration has slashed research funding, terminated multiple missions and allocated $1 billion toward Elon Musk‘s dream of sending humans to Mars

The $6 billion cuts include scrapping the Mars Sample Return (MSR) mission, which has already cost NASA billions and aimed to bring samples collected from the Martian surface back to Earth to be studied.

More payola for his chum F’Elon Musk and a $1,000,000,000 appropriation by fiat & bypassing Congress. Only Congress can legally authorize such expenditures.

The sheer corruption continues unabated in plain sight.

Irish Star: Trump’s tacky gold-plated Oval Office compared to heinous dictator’s palace

President Donald Trump’s remodeling of the Oval Office, which includes a vast amount of gold fixtures covering everything from portraits to curtain rods to even the ceiling, is being compared to a notorious Middle Eastern dictator who was famously a big fan of gold.

Users on X responded to a picture of the Oval Office saying the decor looked like it was “courtesy of the Sadam Hussein home collection.”

One user posted comparison photos of Trump’s various properties over the years next to photos of Hussein’s palace writing “There is indeed a strange and remarkable similarity between the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump and the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein when it comes to luxurious interior designs.”

Trump has long been compared to many dictators around the world, in more ways than just his choice of decor. He famously said during his campaign for president that if elected he’d be a “dictator on day one.”

LA Times: ‘The truckers are scrambling’: Trump’s tariffs hit drivers, L.A. port workers hard

Amid a wave of unprecedented tariffs, anxiety is running high for truck drivers like Helen, who makes her living delivering cargo containers from the Los Angeles and Long Beach harbors to warehouses and other customers around Southern California.

After a strong start to the year, the number of jobs has started to slip in recent days and truck drivers have heard reports predicting a sharp decline in incoming cargo for May and June.

Blavity: Trump’s DOJ Lifts School Desegregation Order From The Civil Rights Era

This is a giant — and unnecessary — step backwards. Resegragation or — even worse — a return to “separate but equal” days may well follow.

“It probably means the opposite — that the school district remains segregated,” who worked in the DOJ Civil Rights Division during the Joe Biden administration, told the Associated Press. “And in fact, most of these districts are now more segregated today than they were in 1954.”

“It’s really just signaling that the backsliding that has started some time ago is complete,” antidiscrimination law professor at Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, Robert Westley said. “The United States government doesn’t really care anymore of dealing with problems of racial discrimination in the schools. It’s over.”

Associated Press: FBI reassigns agents photographed kneeling during 2020 racial justice protest, AP sources say

The photographs at issue showed a group of agents taking a knee during one of the demonstrations following the May 2020 killing of Floyd, a death that sparked widespread anger after millions of people saw video of his arrest and led to a national reckoning over policing and racial injustice.

The kneeling angered some in the FBI but was also understood as a possible de-escalation tactic during a period of widespread protests, and the agents were not punished at the time.

Patel pledged at his January confirmation hearing that he would not “go backwards” in seeking retribution against perceived adversaries of the Trump administration. But even before he was sworn in, there was concern that the Justice Department was poised to do exactly that, including by demanding a list of the thousands of agents who worked on investigations into the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, a request seen by some as a possible precursor to a purge at the bureau.

Latin Times: Drudge Threatens $1 Trillion Lawsuit Over Trump’s ‘White House Wire’ Look-Alike Site [video]

Matt Drudge threatens a $1 trillion lawsuit against Donald Trump’s team, accusing them of ripping off the Drudge Report with a pro-Trump site called “The White House Wire.”

Chill, Matt! King Donald’s pathetic knock-off is not worth a wooden nickel, let along a trillion bucks.

ICT: A town refuses to give up the school’s Native American mascot — and gets Trump’s support

King Donald should respect the Tenth Amendment and butt out! It’s a local matter.

As a high school hockey player, Adam Drexler wore his Massapequa Chiefs jersey with pride.

But as the Chickasaw Nation member grew up and learned about his Indigenous roots, he came to see the school’s mascot — a stereotypical Native American man wearing a headdress — as problematic.

Now his Long Island hometown has become the latest flashpoint in the enduring debate over the use of Indigenous imagery in American sports: The Trump administration launched an investigation Friday into whether New York officials are discriminating against Massapequa by threatening to withhold funding. The town has refused to comply with a state mandate to retire Native American sports names and mascots.

Associated Press: Pressed for evidence against Mahmoud Khalil, government cites its power to deport people for beliefs

A clear violation of his First Amendment rights:

Facing a deadline from an immigration judge to turn over evidence for its attempted deportation of Columbia University activist Mahmoud Khalil, the federal government has instead submitted a brief memo, signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, citing the Trump administration’s authority to expel noncitizens whose presence in the country damages U.S. foreign policy interests.

Rather, Rubio wrote Khalil could be expelled for his beliefs.

He said that while Khalil’s activities were “otherwise lawful,” letting him remain in the country would undermine “U.S. policy to combat anti-Semitism around the world and in the United States, in addition to efforts to protect Jewish students from harassment and violence in the United States.”
