A judge hated by Donald Trump was just assigned a major case seeking to get the Trump administration to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein, according to analysts.
Commentator Brian Tyler Cohen published a video over the weekend featuring former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner. The video, called “Trump gets what he DESERVES in court over Epstein,” the two media analysts discuss Trump drawing Judge Chutkan in the Epstein case brought under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
In an article called “Judge Detested by Trump Will Oversee Epstein Files Case,” The New Republic recently pointed out Chutkan’s history of upsetting Trump when she presided over his criminal trial in D.C.
Kirschner said he is “sure” that the Trump lawyers are “less than thrilled” that she’s the judge.

Raw Story: Appeals court rules against Trump admin in big case — and gives deadline to comply
A federal appeals court ruled over the weekend that Donald Trump’s administration’s moves on government spending are an affront to the Constitution and disclosure laws, according to Politico.
According to the outlet, the three-judge D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals panel voted unanimously to “shoot down a Trump administration bid to make secret a public database of federal spending that researchers say is crucial to ensure the administration is not flouting Congress’ power of the purse.” The court also imposed a deadline, according to the report.
The court reportedly gave “the administration until Friday to put the data back online.”
“Two of the three appeals judges assigned to the matter also signed onto a forceful opinion declaring that the administration’s bid to conceal the data was an affront to Congress’ authority over government spending, one that threatened the separation of powers and defied centuries of evidence that public disclosure is necessary for the public good,” according to the report.
Politico further noted that, “Judge Karen Henderson, a George H.W. Bush appointee, wrote in support of the decision to deny the Trump administration’s request to keep the data under wraps while litigation over the issue goes forward,” and quoted her as saying, “No court would allow a losing party to defy its judgment. No President would allow a usurper to command our armed forces.”
She added, “And no Congress should be made to wait while the Executive intrudes on its plenary power over appropriations.”
Raw Story: DOJ lawyer ‘put his foot in his mouth’ in front of ‘righteously indignant’ judge
The Justice Department’s lawyer “put his foot in his mouth the minute he started and never seemed to get it out” in a recent hearing, according to a former prosecutor.
Ex-federal prosecutor Joyce Vance highlighted a high-profile case in which, as the Washington Post put it, “a federal judge in Maryland sharply rebuked a Justice Department attorney” after “an immigration official could not answer basic questions about the Trump administration’s plans to deport Kilmar Abrego García if he is released pending trial on federal human-smuggling charges against him in Tennessee.”
In the Maryland hearing this week, “Judge Paula Xinis heard testimony from a witness she had directed the government to present, and it turned out that the testimony failed to answer some of the very basic questions she has about the case,” according to Vance. She said they were questions such as, “What do you plan to do with Mr. Abrego Garcia if he’s released, and in what country, other than El Salvador, where the government is currently prohibited from sending him, might you dump him?”
Vance went on to ridicule the DOJ’s position in the case.
“The government is taking a ridiculous posture, saying that unless and until he’s released from criminal custody in the Tennessee case, they aren’t making any plans at all—they just have some vague ideas about the possibilities,” she wrote. “Given that this is the same government we now know from the Erez Reuveni whistleblower case doesn’t feel compelled to comply with courts that rule against Donald Trump’s desired course of action, it’s easy to understand why the Judge was skeptical of the government, telling their lawyers she could no longer presume they were acting in good faith at one point. The presumption of regularity entitles the government to an assumption by the court that its actions are valid and in accordance with the law, placing a burden on any party challenging it to prove otherwise.”
Vance highlighted Xinis’ comment to the DOJ lawyer: “You have taken the presumption of regularity and you’ve destroyed it in my view.”
“The government acted like everything was business as usual and this was just an ordinary case. But this Judge understands that it is not. Abrego Garcia’s lawyers made such a modest request, functional due process, just a couple of days’ notice before their client is dropped in a hellhole like South Sudan,” she wrote. “The government’s lawyer put his foot in his mouth the minute he started and never seemed to get it out. For starters, the Judge had asked yesterday for basic paperwork, the detainer that ICE was using to hold Abrego Garcia. But it took them until midway through the hearing to provide it to her. That’s an inexcusable failure on the government’s part that fairly shouts disrespect to the court.”
The analyst continued:
“The government told Judge Xinis they can either deport Abrego Garcia to a third country of their choice or reopen withholding proceedings… But the government wouldn’t commit to either option or even hint at its thinking.”
She added, “The Judge was righteously indignant that the government wouldn’t say what it wants to do, maintaining the fiction that some randomly assigned desk officer will decide what happens on the fly if Abrego Garcia is returned to their custody, just like they would in any normal case. It’s ridiculous. The government is saying ‘f— you’ to the courts over and over again, and the courts seem to be getting the message.”
Raw Story: ‘Huge news’: Judge denies Trump’s motion to keep Kilmar Abrego Garcia in custody
Donald Trump’s administration lost its bid to keep a wrongly deported Maryland man, Kilmar Ábrego García, in custody.
García, who was purportedly sent to El Salvador in error, was recently returned to the United States to face federal criminal charges.
According to legal expert Anna Bower on Sunday, “A federal magistrate judge DENIES the government’s motion to keep Kilmar Abrego Garcia in custody while his criminal charges are pending.”
“A separate order will enter, following hearing, directing Abrego’s release on conditions,” she wrote, quoting the order dated Sunday.
Raw Story: Trump just went ‘two bridges too far even for MAGA’: ex-GOP strategist
Donald Trump’s latest actions amount to “two bridges too far even for a lot of MAGA folks,” according to a former Republican strategist on Saturday.
…
First, Wilson noted the “assault” of Senator Padilla, who was tackled while speaking out at a press conference for DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.
The second, Wilson said, was sending the Marines into LA.
After it was suggested that Republicans “lost their footing” when it comes to immigration, Wilson said, “I think Senator Padilla being assaulted, to my mind, and maybe you have another moment in the week you think is different, I think the Marines being deployed and Senator Padilla being assaulted, were two bridges too far even for a lot of MAGA folks.”
Wilson’s guest agreed, calling the assault a “flex of muscle” that will backfire on the administration.
Raw Story: ‘Direct result’: Trump family member ties president to political assassination
President Donald Trump is “directly” responsible for what Governor Tim Walz said is a politically motivated assassination, according to a member of the Trump family.
…
Mary Trump, a trained psychologist and the president’s niece, weighed in on the recent attacks:
“As you may have heard two Democratic lawmakers and their spouses were shot in a targeted and politically motivated attack. State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark were assassinated. State Senator John Hoffman and his wife were shot multiple times and there is still hope that they will survive,” Mary Trump wrote.
She added, “These attacks are the direct result of the dangerous political climate Donald Trump has created, purposefully and maliciously, driven by his need for division and retribution, and his thirst for power.”
“Such incidents make even more urgent the need for us to protest while also increasing the need for us to keep ourselves and each other safe,” Trump’s niece added.

Raw Story: ‘Paid Insurrectionists!’: Trump demands California Democrats ‘apologize’
Donald Trump on Sunday evening raged against California Democrats, demanding they issue an apology.
Trump weighed in the protests in Los Angeles, which are related to Trump’s immigration enforcement efforts in the state.
After a day of tense stand-offs between protesters and authorities, the president took to his own social media site, Truth Social, to send a message to California Governor Gavin Newsom and other locals.
Referring to Newsom by a derogatory nickname, Trump said, “Governor Gavin Newscum and ‘Mayor’ Bass should apologize to the people of Los Angeles for the absolutely horrible job that they have done, and this now includes the ongoing L.A. riots.”
As usual Trump shows no class whatsoever.
“These are not protesters, they are troublemakers and insurrectionists. Remember, NO MASKS!” Trump raged over the weekend.
In a follow-up post, Trump simply stated, “Paid Insurrectionists!”

Raw Story: ‘Machine starting to stutter’: Ex-insider says MAGA ‘loyalists’ doubting Trump
Those closest to Donald Trump are starting to question the president, according to a former insider.
Author and former Trump associate Lev Parnas, who has reported on Trump’s purported “humiliation” by Russia’s Putin, on Sunday published an article entitled “Trump Is Tearing It All Down — But There Is Hope,” in which he explains all the harm he sees Trump doing to our nation.
“We have a president, twice impeached, now back in power, ignoring court rulings and pardoning domestic extremists — people who plotted to kidnap a sitting governor — while openly mocking the rule of law,” he said, adding, “So yes — it’s understandable to feel overwhelmed. But here’s the truth you need to hold onto.”
Parnas proudly proclaims, “In darkness, there is still hope.”
“The louder Trump gets, the more people start to whisper,” he added, before dropping some news from his MAGA sources.
Raw Story: Marjorie Taylor Greene complains nothing gets done ‘even though we’re in charge’
Marjorie Taylor Greene said Sunday she isn’t satisfied with what Donald Trump’s administration has so far been able to accomplish.
After commenting on former President Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis, the MAGA ally turned to X to talk about how little Trump’s team has been able to find out about those who tried to assassinate him.
“Thomas Crooks shot Pres Trump and we still know nothing even though we are in charge,” she wrote Sunday.
She continued, saying that “Ryan Routh tried to assassinate him and we still have not seen his trial,” before turning to a more current development. “James Comey threatens to assassinate him and publicly calls for it and he’s on his way to a best seller.”
She then added, “Trump makes a phone call to Zelensky and gets impeached. Trump says ‘go peacefully and make your voices heard’ and gets impeached again. Bannon and Navarro go to jail for refusing to show for a sham congressional subpoena, but Christopher Wray walks free for refusing to show for our congressional subpoena.”
“Don’t tell me to get outraged when nothing is done to hold these people accountable. No accountability means people stop caring,” she concluded.
Must be really difficult being one of MAGA’s biggest airheads! She just rambles from ancient history episode to another.

Raw Story: DHS bid to fix ‘crucial misstatement’ in court causes violation of judge’s order
This was summed up by legal expert Roger Parloff, who said, “In correcting an earlier (crucial) misstatement about Guatemalan OCG, whom government removed to Mexico and who is now hiding in Guatemala due to fear of persecution, government inadvertently identified OCG’s name, violating court order and heightening the danger OCG’s in.”
Parloff added, “Complicated background, but OCG is a name plaintiff in the DVD class action, which is trying to prevent aliens from being removed to 3d countries without an opportunity to raise and litigate claims of fear of persecution and torture.”
DHS today is just a bunch of total f*ck*ps!
