Mirror: CNN commentator goes after Donald Trump over ‘crazy dangerous’ plan

CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig called out President Donald Trump and White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen [“Goebbels”] Miller’s plans to potentially suspend habeas corpus.

The legal commentator was on Friday, May 9, night’s episode of the network’s The Source with Kaitlan Collins. The anchor asked him about Stephen’s [“Goebbels'”] recent comments about habeas corpus which Elie called both “dead wrong” and “crazy dangerous.”

The WH’s deputy chief of staff of policy on May 9 said that the Trump administration is “actively looking at” suspending the legal procedure. Habeas corpus is a legal procedure that gives a person a right to challenge their detention or imprisonment.

President Donald Trump met with El Salvador President Nayib Bukele in the Oval Office to discuss Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national wrongly deported to El Salvador’s CECO prison complex. The administration called Abrego Garcia’s removal an administrative error. A Supreme Court ruling declared his deportation illegal and ordered the administration to help him return to the U.S.

During the meeting, CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins asked both leaders about the process for Abrego Garcia’s return. When Collins pressed for details, Trump shifted focus to insult her, calling her “low-rated” and saying CNN “hates our country.”

The White House, through an outside event production company called Harbinger, is soliciting corporate sponsors for this year’s annual Easter Egg Roll, which is prompting major concerns from ethics experts and shock from former White House officials from both parties.

The sponsorship offers range from $75,000 to $200,000, with the promise of logo and branding opportunities, according to a nine-page document sent to potential sponsors and obtained by CNN.

The Egg Roll, which began during the Rutherford B. Hayes administration in 1878, has long been privately funded without taxpayer dollars, largely through the American Egg Board, which also provides tens of thousands of eggs for the occasion.
