Just the News: Trump announces new tariffs on foreign trucks, furniture, pharmaceuticals

President Donald Trump on Thursday night announced a new batch of tariffs including ones on foreign-made trucks, cabinets, furniture and pharmacuetical products.

The highest tariffs were imposed on pharmacuetical products, which Trump said would be “100%” unless the company is building its plant in the United States.

“‘IS BUILDING’ will be defined as, ‘breaking ground’ and/or ‘under construction,'” Trump posted on Truth Social. “There will, therefore, be no Tariff on these Pharmaceutical Products if construction has started.”

Trump said there will be a 50% tariff on kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, and associated products starting Oct. 1, and a 30% tariff on furniture.

“The reason for this is the large scale ‘FLOODING’ of these products into the United States by other outside Countries,” Trump wrote in a separate Truth Social post. “It is a very unfair practice, but we must protect, for national security and other reasons, our manufacturing process.”

The lightest tariffs will be on heavy foreign-made trucks, which will see a 25% tariff starting on Oct. 1.

“Our Great Large Truck Company Manufacturers, such as Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, Mack Trucks, and others, will be protected from the onslaught of outside interruptions,” Trump wrote in a social media post. “We need our Truckers to be financially healthy and strong, for many reasons, but above all else, for National Security purposes.”

The tariffs come on top of Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs that were imposed on nearly every nation in the world in April. The tariffs were part of a bid to address trade deficits and conditions that he perceived to be unfair to the U.S.

Raw Story: ‘Who?’ Pam Bondi and Kash Patel fail to name a single terrorist group they plan to target

FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi on Thursday failed to name one terrorist organization they plan to investigate during a news conference at the Oval Office with President Donald Trump.

Trump signed a memorandum on the implementation of the death penalty in Washington, D.C, then a series of press questions followed after claims that “this is a very safe city right now, we don’t play games.”

“Who do you specifically want to target?” a reporter asked.

The three leaders were unable to respond to the questions, saying that they would “follow the money” and investigate “any organized group.”

But they still didn’t specifically name anything or anyone.

When pressed again, he responded, “antifa Soros… Well, [billionaire Democratic donor George] Soros is a name certainly that I keep hearing… I hear a lot of different names. I hear names of some pretty rich people that are radical left people, Maybe I hear about a guy named Reid Hoffman.”

Trump reportedly demanded that Soros, a longtime villain to conservatives, be thrown in prison, and the senior DOJ official’s directive lists possible charges – from arson to material support of terrorism – that prosecutors could file, according to a copy of the document viewed by The New York Times, which noted the memo suggests department officials are targeting individuals on the president’s orders.

“I don’t know, maybe, and maybe could be him, could be a lot of people,” Trump said.

Trump indicated that he wants to stop these unnamed groups or individuals from “performing acts of violence.”

“We’re looking at the funders of a lot of these groups. You know, when you see the signs, and they’re all beautiful signs, made professionally. These aren’t your protesters that make the sign in their basement late in the evening because they really believe it,” Trump claimed.

“These are anarchists and agitators — professional anarchists and agitators — and they get hired by wealthy people, some of whom I know, I guess, you know, probably know ’em. And you wouldn’t know it. You’re at dinner with them, everything’s nice and then you find out that they funded millions of dollars to these lunatics.”

Trump also invited his deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, to say a few words.

“This is a very historic and significant day,” Miller said. “This is the first time in American history that there is an all-government effort to dismantle left-wing terrorism, to dismantle antifa, to dismantle violence and terrorism.”

Last week, Trump designated antifa as a “domestic terrorist organization.” The loose-knit group does not have a leader and is comprised of people who generally describe themselves as anarchists, socialists, communists, and don’t generally share their identities to avoid retaliation from right-wing conservatives.

Miller argued that the government was looking at Black Lives Matter, Charlie Kirk’s killing, and attacks on ICE agents as “not lone, isolated events, this is part of an organized campaign of radical left terrorism… there is really no parallel like this…”

He claimed that a feeder organization was isolating public officials, doxxing government officials and attempting political assassinations.

“It is terrorism on our soil. Because of this executive order, Kash and Pam are going to have the tools they need working with Scott to take these organizations apart piece by piece, and the central hub of that effort is going to be the Joint Terrorism Task Force, or JTTF, which sits inside the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” Miller said.

Miller added that the investigation of terrorists, although it’s unclear who they are, would have the full support of the U.S. government.

“But for those at home who are worried about terrorism, understand because of President Trump’s strength, because of his vision, because of his leadership, we are now going to use the entire force of the federal government to uproot these organizations root and branch,” Miller said.

Raw Story: ‘We’ll move it!’ Trump threatens to relocate FIFA World Cup matches

President Donald Trump told a group of reporters on Thursday that he is considering forcibly relocating 2026 World Cup matches out of cities if he believes they are “dangerous” — even though he is not in charge of FIFA and doesn’t have the authority to relocate World Cup matches — and specifically mentioned Chicago as a potential example, even though Chicago is not scheduled to host any World Cup matches in the first place.

“If I think it’s not safe, we’re going to move it out of that city,” said Trump. “If, like, the governor of Illinois, who is, look, you know, last week, between last week and the week before, 11 murders, and 38 people were shot. And he gets up and says, ‘this is a very safe,’ and then he says crime is better.”

“The reason crime is better is because Kash [Patel] put, about five months ago, a whole team of FBI there to get ready for when we go in, and they’ve lowered it a little bit,” he said. “You know, 20, 25 percent, which isn’t good enough, but it’s a good start. But that was only put there because they’re preparing for us to go in. And they’ve done, by the way, they’ve done a good job. So then Pritzker gets up, ‘We’ve lowered crime 25…’ It’s because the FBI was there.”

“So, no, if any city we think is going to be even a little bit dangerous for the World Cup, or for the Olympics, you know, when they have Olympic overthrow, right, but for the World Cup in particular, because they’re playing in so many cities, we won’t allow it to go — we’ll move it around a little,” Trump continued. “But I hope that’s not going to happen.”

Trump has repeatedly cited the crime rate in Chicago — often wildly exaggerating it — as a possible pretext to sending in federal troops to keep order, much the way he did in Los Angeles to crack down on protests against his mass deportation policies.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker has repeatedly condemned Trump’s threats against his state’s most populous city, and indicated he will strenuously oppose any military occupation of his state.

Raw Story: ‘Trump’s presidency is effectively over’: New polling spells disaster for Trump in 2026

New polling data on swing states shows that a plurality of voters now favor President Donald Trump being impeached, a figure that one journalist suspects will reach an outright majority ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

“If Democrats win 20-40 seats, while only needing to flip three to take the majority, Trump’s presidency is effectively over,” wrote journalist Jason Easley, co-owner and editor of PoliticusUSA, a left-leaning news website, in an analysis published Thursday.

“The opposition to this president and his presidency appears to be only growing stronger. The pot is boiling, and the boil-over moment will likely manifest itself next November.”

Conducted by Lake Research Partners and commissioned by the national nonprofit Free Speech For People, the new poll shows that 49% of likely 2026 voters in swing districts supported impeaching Trump, compared to 44% who opposed. Additionally, the polling showed that 56% of those same voters disapproved of Trump during his second term compared to 40% who approved.

To the polling firm, the results were “unprecedented,” noting that such high support for impeachment so early into a president’s term were “remarkable.”

“It is remarkable and, as far as we know, unprecedented for such a large proportion of voters in swing districts to support impeachment of a president in the first year of their term,” the polling firm wrote in its memorandum alongside the polling data.

As for Easley, he suspected that given the dramatic shift toward supporting impeachment, that support would reach an outright majority ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

“This is a surprising number of people in swing districts who want Trump impeached,” Easley wrote. “At the current pace this administration is on, the number of voters who want Trump impeached for a third time will pass 50% before the midterm election.”

Trump has been impeached twice already; first for his “perfect phone call” in which he was alleged to have attempted to extort Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for damaging information on former President Joe Biden in 2019, and again in 2020 for attempting to overturn the results of the election.

Daily Beast: Trump’s Goons Topple 12-Foot Statue of Him and Epstein

The 12-foot bronze had got a permit from the federal government—but then vanished.

A towering 12-foot statue of President Donald Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein holding hands mysteriously appeared on the Capitol Mall early Tuesday.

By sunrise Wednesday, it had vanished.

The United States Park Police quietly removed the provocative bronze sculpture around 5:30 a.m., according to footage obtained by the Daily Beast.

The removal violates a permit issued by the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) to “The Secret Handshake,” the group that claimed responsibility for the installation. The statue was authorized to remain on display across from the Capitol on 3rd Street, between Madison and Jefferson Avenues, until Sunday at 8 p.m., documents reviewed by the Daily Beast reveal.

The DOI is also required to notify the artists at least 24 hours before the statue is removed for any reason.

Knewz: Trump admin MAGA loyalists turn on each other

FBI Director Kash Patel has come under fire with top officials in President Donald Trump’s administration amid claims U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi “can’t stand him.” Alongside that allegation, former Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey was just installed at Patel’s embattled agency as co-deputy FBI director alongside Dan Bongino in the wake of growing Patel backlash, Knewz.com can reveal.

Tensions abound

Trump tapped Bailey to help run the FBI, sharing the role of second-in-command with Co-Deputy Director Bongino — a Trump loyalist who recently clashed with other administration officials over the FBI and Justice Department’s handling of a review of the Jeffrey Epstein case. The change comes at a time Patel is under fire over recent mistakes. “The White House, Bondi [and Deputy Attorney General Todd] Blanche have no confidence in Kash. Pam in particular cannot stand him. Blanche either,” a source told Fox News. Bondi and Blanche denied the allegations, and the White House denied plans to strip Patel of his role.

Questioning Patel’s leadership

Within the last few months, particularly following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, questions have been swirling about Patel’s position and leadership. Patel recently faced off with lawmakers during back-to-back appearances before Congress as elected officials questioned him about his decisions and performance following Kirk’s murder, which saw multiple people erroneously arrested early in the investigation. Trump, however, had a different take on the way the manhunt for Kirk’s shooter ended. “I am very proud of the FBI. Kash — and everyone else — they have done a great job,” Trump said.

Patel backlash

Despite Trump’s praise, on social media, many commenters have been urging Patel to step down from his position. “What do you guys think about Kash Patel as head of FBI? I think he needs to step down. The former Attorney General of Missouri Andrew Bailey is being sworn in as a co-deputy director. Maybe he can do better,” wrote one commenter. Another said, “Kash Patel is an incompetent fool who needs to step down from his leadership position.” Yet another said, “I’m very confused [and] disappointed over Kash Patel’s contribution so far. If he can’t [handle] his assignment, he has to step down because this is not good enough. As for Pam Bondi, shouldn’t she be sitting more behind her desk instead of being around President Trump all the time?”

FBI criticism

Many social media users also slammed Patel and the FBI for their performance after the Kirk shooting suspect’s father turned him in to authorities. Once the manhunt for Kirk’s alleged killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, came to an end, one online commenter lamented, “Took 3 days to find the shooter. Didn’t find shooter. Shooter’s father turned him in. Faith won’t let [Patel] say Heaven so he said, ‘See you in Valhalla, Charlie.’ Should Kash Patel be forced to step down?” Another echoed a similar sentiment, writing, “Patel and Bongino need to step down. At least Kash for sure, this has been a s*** show. I’m no fan of Kirk’s but still want justice.”

Raw Story: ‘Two-faced guy’: Trump official creates ‘real worry’ as credibility plunges to record lows

President Donald Trump’s most popular cabinet official has been plummeting in public approval as he takes aim at a broadly accepted policy.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will conduct a new review of abortion pills, the latest move taking aim at health care matters that has included vaccine mandates and Tylenol use by pregnant women that Americans had come to take for granted as uncontroversial.

And CNN data analyst Harry Enten said his actions have his approval ratings plunging.

“Down it goes,” Enten said. “What are we talking about here? Well, let’s take a look. Net approval rating in March, according to Quinnipiac it was minus-11. You go to June, down it goes to minus-15, and now, data that’s just out this week, minus-21 points. We’ve seen a drop of 10 points since March. The more RFK Jr. Is implementing or trying to implement his policies, the further down his net approval rating goes, and at this particular point, 21 points underwater is not a place you want to be.”

Kennedy had been the most popular Trump official at the start of this month, with a net approval rating of minus-7 points, but the more the public sees from him the less they agree with his policies, Enten said.

“What is going on here?” Enten added. “Well, I think, you know, RFK is sort of a two-faced guy when it comes to the American public. What do they like about RFK Jr.? Well, Americans who support restricting artificial food dyes. Look at this: It’s 60 percent. That, of course, is something that RFK Jr. has been trying to implement, right? They like RFK Jr. when it comes to food dyes and stuff in food.

“But look at this: Trust RFK Jr. on vaccine information, he’s significantly lower. He’s down at 37 percent, and obviously, RFK Jr. has been trying to change some of the advice that’s going on from the federal government when it comes to vaccines. Americans do not trust RFK Jr., they do not like him on vaccines. They like him when it comes to food dyes, they don’t like him on vaccines, and this has been the number that has been far more in the news recently. If I were advising RFK in terms of if he wanted to be more popular, I’d be focusing on this.”

“I think that this is the real worry, right, because they don’t trust RFK Jr., right, on vaccine information, and take a look here,” Enten added. “Gives trustworthy info on public health? The CDC, it was 72 percent last year. Look at this: It’s 64 percent now. How about the FDA? It was 73 percent last year, it’s 63 percent now. Most of this decline is coming from Democrats, who all of a sudden are wondering, can I actually trust the information that’s coming out of the federal government, whether or not it is coming out of RFK Jr.’s mouth? Because obviously, as you said, all those agencies that he’s overlooking, those are very important.

“If the public doesn’t trust them, we’ve got major problems, and at this particular point, when you look at these numbers, the flip side is now more than a third of Americans are not confident in the information that they are getting at either the CDC or the FDA, which I think a lot of public health officials are quite worried about.”
