A Georgia teenager who was detained by federal deportation officers has been released from custody on Thursday, according to a CBS News report.
They claim Ximena Arias Cristobal was released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after a judge granted her bond.
The 19-year-old was held at the ICE detention facility in Lumpkin, Georgia, after a traffic stop led to her arrest.
Her Immigration attorney, Dustin Baxter, said she was granted a $1,500 bond, which is the lowest amount allowed by law.

Irish Star: Elon Musk embarrassed as Social Security ‘fraud’ claim debunked by new data
Musk and fellow DOGE proponents’ assertions about revamping Social Security due to colossal fraud losses have been met with skepticism.
Fortune reports that Doge’s bid to transform the government’s main safety-net program, citing claims of it hemorrhaging vast sums to fraud, despite Musk’s team being denied permission to view official documents.
Musk, who had a humiliating screaming match with a Trump official, has boldly claimed that his team has unearthed weekly fraudulent entitlement payments totaling a staggering $100 billion, calling the situation ‘utterly insane. ‘
During an April Fox News interview, Social Security department staffer Aram Moghaddassi concurred with Musk’s sentiment, stating that 40% of calls they receive about altering direct-deposit data are from tricksters.
…
However, according to Fortune – which referenced a government technology-focused news source, the actual frequency of phone-related fraud is minuscule, barely exceeding a fraction of 1%.
Nextgov/FCW snagged an internal scoop revealing that out of 110,000 Social Security claims, merely two have been identified as highly probable for fraud. The tech news site indicates less than 1% of claims are even slightly suspicious for fraudulent activity.

Raw Story: Tom Homan is costing American taxpayers $1 million a month: reporter
One of President Donald Trump’s top staffers is costing American taxpayers around $1 million a month, according to a reporter.
Tom Homan, whose official title is White House Executive Associate Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations, is referred to by Trump as his “border czar” and is breaking the bank on security costs.
CBS News senior White House reporter Jennifer Jacobs reported Friday that sources told the network “it costs more than $500,000 a month.”
While “another source said the total—with ~$500k in salaries for agents plus airfare, hotel bills, and other travel expenses—actually adds up to around $1 million per month,” Jacobs wrote on X.
Homan has been tasked with helping carry out the “largest separation operation in U.S. history,” Jacobs explained. As a result, he has experienced threats.
…
Another Trump administration official complained that the sum is “extravagant” and accused they “sucked resources away from other senior leadership, including other cabinet members.”
Homan’s post is not a Cabinet-level position.
Let the bum fend for himself!
Newsweek: Marjorie Taylor Greene responds to Ximena Arias ICE detainment backlash
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is defending immigration authorities’ efforts to deport a 19-year-old college student from her Georgia district.
“The law is the law, and we don’t get to pick and choose who gets to break the law and who gets to follow the law,” Greene told Chattanooga Local 3 News.
“It’s important for us to uphold the law, and that’s the most important thing that we can do and our government can do.”
A humanitarian visa is entirely within the realm of possibility for someone who’s been here since the age of 4. The only obstacles are Neanderthal Republicans who don’t care how many lives they turn upside down as they strive to maximize their deportation counts.
As I’ve already said, MTG is a
Cruel.
Heartless.
Bitch.
Emphasis on bitch!

TAG24 NEWS: Marjorie Taylor Greene applauds deportation of college student from her district: “The law is the law!”
On May 5, 19-year-old Ximena Arias-Cristobal of Dalton, Georgia, was stopped by police and charged with allegedly making an illegal right turn at a red light and driving without a valid license.
Though the charges were dropped after local police admitted to pulling over the wrong car, it was discovered Arias-Cristobal was in the country without documentation, and she was sent to a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Lumpkin, Georgia.
During an interview with Chattanooga Local 3 News on Thursday, MTG was asked to respond to a critic who argued the US should not kick people out who are “living productive lives.”
“The law is the law, and we don’t get to pick and choose who gets to break the law and who gets to follow the law,” Greene said. “It’s important for us to uphold the law, and that’s the most important thing that we can do, and our government can do.”
The congresswoman went on to say Arias-Cristobal, who was brought to the US from Mexico when she was four, was lucky to grow up in such a “great area,” but admonished her parents for not pursuing a proper path to citizenship for her – even though Congress has repeatedly obstructed efforts toward creating a pathway to citizenship for many immigrants.
Cruel, heartless bitch!
Associated Press: Judge denies stay request, lets ruling stand blocking DOGE efforts to shut down peace institute
A federal judge on Friday denied the Trump administration’s request that she stay her May 19 ruling that returned control of the U.S. Institute of Peace back to its acting president and board.
In a seven-page ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Beryl A. Howell said the government did not meet any of the four requirements for a stay, including a “strong showing” of whether its request could succeed on the merits.
Howell reiterated her finding that the Institute is not part of the executive branch and is therefore beyond President Donald Trump’s authority to fire its board. She added that the firings also did not follow the law for how a board member of the Institute might be removed by the president.

Raw Story: Longtime reporters ‘almost speechless’ over Trump’s ‘transparent bribery’ plot
On Friday morning, longtime Washington D.C. reporters Jonathan Lemire and Peter Baker of the New York Times, as well as conservative columnist Matt Lewis, admitted they were stunned that Republicans turned a blind eye to Donald Trump’s crypto dinner.
During a segment on the president’s much-criticized dinner at his golf club in northern Virginia that took place Thursday night, Lemire prompted guest Baker with, “I mean, you’ve covered the White House for a long time. I mean, I’m almost speechless at this. Could you imagine if Barack Obama or Joe Biden did anything like it?“
“No, we couldn’t, they could –– they never did anything like this,” Baker responded. “It’s not the first presidential family that kind of profited off the White House; you can certainly find other examples of that in history. But the scale of this, the scope of this is so far beyond anything history has ever seen.”
,,,
I don’t think the Democrats yet have the juice to take what is just transparently bribery and make it matter to the American people.”

Associated Press: Defense Secretary Hegseth, bedeviled by leaks, orders more restrictions on press at Pentagon
Bedeviled by leaks to the media during his short tenure, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a series of restrictions on the press late Friday that include banning reporters from entering wide swaths of the Pentagon without a government escort — areas where the press has had access in past administrations as it covers the activities of the world’s most powerful military.
Newly restricted areas include his office and those of his top aides and all of the different locations across the mammoth building where the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Space Force maintain press offices.
The media will also be barred from offices of the Pentagon’s senior military leadership, including Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, without Hegseth’s approval and an escort from his aides. The staff of the Joint Chiefs has traditionally maintained a good relationship with the press.

Miami Herald: Judge Releases Pro-Palestinian Non-citizen in Blow to ICE
A U.S. District Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles has ordered the release of Georgetown University fellow Badar Khan Suri, who was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) amid the administration’s crackdown on dissent related to Palestinian advocacy. Giles found that Suri’s detention violated his First and Fifth Amendment rights. His case has raised concerns about the targeting of non-citizen academics for their political beliefs.
Reuters: US judge orders Trump administration to facilitate return of Guatemalan deported
A federal judge ordered the Trump administration on Friday to facilitate the return of a gay Guatemalan man who said he was deported to Mexico despite fearing he would be persecuted there, after officials acknlowledged an error in his case.
US District Judge Brian Murphy in Boston issued the order days after the Justice Department notified him that its claim that the man had expressly stated he was not afraid of being sent to Mexico was based on erroneous information.
The Justice Department said last week that upon further investigation, officials were unable to identify any Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer who had asked the man, identified as “OCG” about fears he had for his safety.
…
According to his lawyers, OCG is a gay man who fled Guatemala in 2024 after facing death threats based on his sexuality.
He entered the United States through Mexico in May 2024.
Murphy said that while an immigration judge in February found OCG deserved protection from being returned to Guatemala, authorities two days later wrongly placed him on a bus to Mexico, where he had recently been raped and kidnapped.
