Raw Story: ICE officials living in a ‘culture of fear’ as arrests lag and jobs threatened: report
A shakeup is looming at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) because Donald Trump’s White House has become increasingly frustrated with the pace of arrests of undocumented immigrants — and now jobs are on the line.
According to a report from the New York Times, regional ICE officials are being asked to explain why arrest numbers are down which led former senior ICE official Claire Trickler-McNulty to explain, “They are under constant threat; people are ground down; it’s a culture of fear.”
Noting that the agency has been in constant turmoil, Trickler-McNulty added, “There has been so much shuffling of deck chairs — I can’t imagine anyone even having the ability to take on real challenges.”
…
With the administration setting a goal of 600,000 deportations by the end of Trump’s first year of his second term, the report states the numbers are falling from the proposed 3,000 immigrants per day, ordered by Trump advisor Stephen Miller, down to slightly more than 1,000 a day.

Poor crybabies! They’re terrorizing our communities while they whine about their own “culture of fear” because they haven’t terrorized enough people.
F*ck ’em!
Independent: Companies passed 37% of tariff costs on to consumers – and that figure is set to jump
Even large manufacturers who have been able to absorb many of the costs of the international levies have warned that should the situation continue, or even worsen, they will be forced to hike up prices
Companies have so far passed almost 40 percent of Donald Trump’s foreign import tariffs onto consumers, though that figure may still increase further.
Even large manufacturers who have been able to absorb many of the costs of the international levies have warned that should the situation continue, or even worsen, they will be forced to hike up prices.
Since Trump’s announcement of sweeping global tariffs in April, companies have passed about 37 percent on to consumers, 9 percent onto their suppliers and absorbed 51 percent through August, according to research by Goldman Sachs.
MSNBC: Maddow Blog | Trump expands military strikes against civilian boats, this time in the Pacific Ocean
As the White House launches its eighth operation against alleged drug smugglers in international waters, there’s still no evidence to support its claims.
The first step was taken seven weeks ago. Donald Trump ordered a deadly military strike against a civilian boat in international waters, and according to the White House, the operation killed 11 people. The president justified the strikes by claiming the targets were boats smuggling drugs that would eventually reach the United States, but neither he nor his team presented any evidence — to the public or to Congress — in support of the claim.
It was the first, but not the last. The second came two weeks later, followed soon after by several more. Late last week, the Republican administration pointed to a seventh such strike, followed by an eighth, this time in the Pacific Ocean. The New York Times reported:
The Times’ report, which has not been independently verified by MSNBC, noted the White House has officially claimed that the first seven strikes have collectively killed 32 people. If the latest reporting is correct, it suggests that the new total is nearly three dozen.
