Alternet: ‘One of the worst’: Kristi [Bimbo #2] Noem slammed for ‘false accusation’ against man who was framed

Authorities have acknowledged an error in their initial assessment of a Wisconsin man who was arrested last month under suspicion of threatening President Donald Trump, CNN reported Tuesday.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Secretary Kristi Noem had previously labeled Ramón Morales Reyes, an undocumented immigrant, as a potential threat based on threatening letters allegedly written by him. However, a subsequent investigation revealed that Morales Reyes, who cannot read or write in English, was framed by Demetric Deshawn Scott, a 52-year-old man from Milwaukee.

Bimbo #2 doesn’t care who or what she hurts. Just ask her goat or puppy.

Never mind, the goat & puppy are dead — Bimbo #2 shot them.

Alternet: ‘Gross usurpation of power’: Judge rips Trump in ruling striking down agency takeover

In a strongly worded ruling against Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and its takeover of the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP), U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell said that the move “represented a gross usurpation of power.”

According to the Hill, the judge also issued an injunction barring officials from DOGE and other Trump administration representatives from accessing USIP’s facilities or systems, effectively halting their involvement with the institute.

The order nullified the administration’s decision to dismiss the USIP board members and its president, confirming that they continue to hold their official roles. The appointment of individuals by DOGE was also overturned, requiring their removal from the board.

The judge said President Donald Trump and his subordinates used “acts of force” and threatened officers.

“The President’s efforts here to take over an organization outside of those bounds, contrary to statute established by Congress and by acts of force and threat using local and federal law enforcement officers, represented a gross usurpation of power and a way of conducting government affairs that unnecessarily traumatized the committed leadership and employees of USIP, who deserved better,” Howell said in the ruling.

Alternet: ‘Red line has been crossed’: Trump accused of filing ‘bogus charges’ to ‘intimidate’ Dems

House Democratic Leadership has strongly condemned interim U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba’s decision to charge Rep. LaMonica Mclver (D-N.J.), calling it “an attack on the American people.”

The Justice Department announced on Monday that it has filed charges against McIver, accusing her of assaulting law enforcement officers earlier this month at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Newark.

In a statement released Monday, House Democrats said the party “will respond vigorously in the days to come at a time, place and manner of our choosing.”

“The criminal charge against Congresswoman LaMonica McIver is extreme, morally bankrupt and lacks any basis in law or fact,” said the statement, shared by House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on the social platform X.

“Members of Congress have a constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight of the executive branch wherever and whenever it is needed. We are lawfully permitted to show up at any federal facility unannounced to conduct an inspection on behalf of the American people,” the Democratic lawmakers said.

“By visiting the detention center in Newark, Rep. McIver and two other Members of Congress were upholding their oath of office. They didn’t assault anyone, but were themselves aggressively mistreated by illegally masked individuals,” the statement added.

“There is no credible evidence that Rep. McIver engaged in any criminal activity, and she would not have been permitted to tour the facility had she done anything wrong,” the Democratic leadership said.

The statement further said that the proceeding launched “by the so-called U.S. Attorney in New Jersey is a blatant attempt by the Trump administration to intimidate Congress and interfere with our ability to serve as a check and balance on an out-of-control executive branch.”

Alternet: ‘Another Trump in the future’: Why international allies may ditch the US for good

The global community is reportedly concerned about the potential emergence of another leader like President Donald Trump after the end of his term in 2029.

The New York Times reported that given these concerns, international allies are forging trade partnerships and security alliances independent of the United States, with the European Union and South American nations recently establishing a significant trade zone.

Ian Goldin, a professor at Oxford, told the Times that he believes Trump’s MAGA following and its motivations — rooted in economic insecurity and inequality — will persist beyond Trump’s presidency.

“The MAGA base and JD Vance will still be around long after Trump’s gone,” Goldin said. ‘No matter who next occupies the White House, the conditions that propelled the ‘Make America Great Again’ movement — widening inequality and economic insecurity — remain. For the rest of the world, there is still a worry, he said, that there could be ‘another Trump in the future’,” he said.

Alternet: ‘Mind-boggling’: DHS official ripped for saying wrongfully arrested US citizen claimed not to be a citizen

From the How-Gullible-Do-They-Think-We-Are Department:

Department of Homeland Security (DHS)’s Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin faced criticism on social media after stating that a United States citizen, who was wrongfully arrested by border authorities in Arizona earlier this month, was subjected to action because he had claimed not to be a U.S. citizen.

“The narrative being pushed about Jose Hermosillo is false. On April 8, Hermosillo approached Border Patrol in Tucson and stated he had entered the U.S. illegally through Nogales. He said he wanted to turn himself in and completed a sworn statement identifying as a Mexican citizen who had entered unlawfully,” McLaughlin wrote on the social platform X on Monday.
