Immigrants admitted to the US from a Biden-era parole program for Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela have begun receiving notices of termination urging them to depart the US.
Participants in the “CHNV” parole program were also told that their employment authorization is revoked effective immediately in email messages from the Department of Homeland Security, the agency said Thursday.
The notices follow a US Supreme Court decision last month allowing DHS to move forward with revocation of parole benefits for half a million immigrants after a lower court preserved the protections. A legal challenge to the Trump administration’s dismantling of parole programs including the CHNV process is still ongoing.

Krish O’Mara Vignarajah, president and CEO of Global Refuge, said the immigrants receiving termination notices this week had played by the rules and already passed security screenings and secured legal work authorization.
“Instead of rewarding responsible migration through orderly legal pathways, this action punishes those who jumped through every hoop asked of them,” she said in a statement.

“There is no question that the Trump administration is needlessly and flagrantly flouting U.S. law, and we will continue to fight in the courts to ensure justice for our communities,” she said in a statement.

Bloomberg: Unrestrained Trump Turns to Military in Second-Term Power Play
President Donald Trump’s moves to deploy US troops to Los Angeles and hold a splashy parade on the Army’s 250th birthday fulfills his longtime goal of leaning on the military for a show of force and political power.
Stymied in his first term by cabinet members who resisted the use of soldiers on American soil, Trump has a more compliant team around him this time. After sending in the National Guard this weekend, he escalated his showdown with California Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday by mobilizing 700 active-duty Marines, a decision that Newsom called a “provocation.”
Late Monday, Trump went even further, authorizing an additional 2,000 National Guard members to deploy there, bringing the total to 4,000, not including the Marines.
…
David Leopold, a former president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, said the presence of the National Guard and Marines was a “shocking” development meant to deliberately spread chaos, confusion and fear. “What we’ve seen is people exercising their First Amendment rights,” Leopold told Bloomberg Television. “That is what these troops are being sent out to suppress.”

ABC 7 KABC: RFK Jr. says he is removing all 17 members of CDC’s vaccine advisory committee
The committee makes recommendations on the safety and efficacy of vaccines.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced on Monday he is removing all 17 sitting members of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s vaccine advisory committee and replacing them with new members.
The Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP) makes recommendations on the safety, efficacy and clinical need of vaccines.
“Today we are prioritizing the restoration of public trust above any specific pro- or anti-vaccine agenda,” Kennedy said in a statement. “The public must know that unbiased science — evaluated through a transparent process and insulated from conflicts of interest — guides the recommendations of our health agencies.”
Is a lunatic with brainworms who eats bush meat and road kill competent to restore public trust in any health-related matters?
New York Post: Trump admin diverted 20,000 anti-drone missiles it promised to Ukraine and sent them to US troops, Zelensky says
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Trump administration diverted 20,000 anti-drone missiles originally meant for Kyiv to American forces in the Middle East.
Zelensky revealed Sunday that he had secured a deal for the missiles under the Biden administration to counterattack Moscow’s deadly, Iranian-designed Shahed drones, which have been at the center of Russia’s mass bombardment campaign.
“We have big problems with Shaheds,” Zelensky told ABC News’ “This Week.” “We counted on this project — 20,000 missiles. Anti-Shahed missiles. It was not expensive, but it’s a special technology.”
The diversion of the weapons was first reported by the Wall Street Journal last week, with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly issuing an “urgent” call to redirect the weapons on June 4 away from Ukraine.

Washington Post: Records of dead people show how the pro-Trump spin machine keeps going
Supporters cite a prosaic DOGE announcement as evidence that a Social Security problem that never existed has been fixed.
The big lie:
“We’re also identifying shocking levels of incompetence and probable fraud in the Social Security program for our seniors, and that our seniors and people that we love rely on. Believe it or not, government databases list … 3.47 million people from ages 120 to 129, 3.9 million people from ages 130 to 139. 3.5 million people from ages 140 to 149. And money is being paid to many of them.”
— President Donald Trump, in a speech to Congress, March 4
The simple explanation:
Social Security databases rely on COBOL, a nearly 70-year-old computer programming language, and COBOL doesn’t have a standardized way to store dates. So a default date, such as 1875, was chosen for people lacking birth information.
But Trump and his cronies will never let a good lie go unrepeated, every chance they can.

Raw Story: ‘This is my show!’ CNN host fires back at a furious Stephen [“Goebbels”] Miller in interview
“Am I going to sit here today and engage in radical hypotheticals?” [“Goebbels”] Miller asked when talking about the executive powers of the president. “This administration has religiously complied with even the most unlawful court orders, but it completely upends the constitutional system to have a single judge in Boston assert the same powers of the president of the United States — is such an offense to democracy.”
Whatever you say, Herr Goebbels.
[“Goebbels”] Miller’s voice continued to grow louder as he accused the Biden administration of “trying to throw President Trump in jail, claiming somehow that was what democracy required, when, in fact, the Democrat Party has been waging war against democracy. They should be renamed the Communist Party, and district court judges that are trying to keep millions of illegal aliens here, to steal our, jobs, to steal, our livelihood, to steal our benefits —”
Last time I checked, Biden’s been out of office for 4 months and 10 days, Herr Goebbels. If you’re displeased with the current state of affairs in American government, it’s high time you and your grifter-in-chief stepped up and started owning what you’ve been f*ck*ng up for 130 days and counting.
Alternet: Trump to western North Carolina: ‘Drop dead’ | Opinion
Sometimes, it’s hard to keep track of the wild policy swings that are the signatures of the second Trump administration. From tariffs and trade to Russia and Ukraine, it often takes just hours for supposedly strong policy stances to be contradicted or abandoned by the president or his aides.
And now, this chaotic pattern is directly impacting North Carolina.
Both last fall and this past January, Trump blasted the Biden administration’s response to Hurricane Helene and made bold promises that he would rebuild storm-ravaged areas better than ever.
Unfortunately, that was then and this is now. This fact was made clear last week when the administration abruptly turned off the federal funding spigot by rejecting Gov. Josh Stein’ request to continue providing matching funds for the state’s Helene recovery appropriations.
The decision leaves the state on the hook for $200 million or more in additional expenses for debris cleanup and other emergency work.
The bottom line: Once again, the president has said one thing and done another, and sadly, North Carolinians will pay the price.
Raw Story: This ‘lie detector test’ is being failed by Trump: expert
The former chair of the United States Council of Economic Advisers warned Monday that the bond markets are flashing red over Donald Trump’s economic agenda.
In a sharply worded MSNBC op-ed titled, “The Bond Market is an Economic Lie Detector Test,” Jared Bernstein, a Biden administration economist, argued that markets are reacting to “a toxic combination” of MAGA-inspired policies that threaten to both raise interest rates and slow growth.
Trump “is failing” the test, according to Bernstein, and “that’s bad news for your wallet,” he added.
Daily Mail: Democrat Mayor of Nashville under investigation for helping illegal migrants evade ICE
When asked about what specifically he was accusing the mayor of doing, the congressman told reporters, ‘Well that’s why we’re going to have an investigation,’ but failed to name any crimes.
The Democrat has denied any wrong doing while pushing support for the Belonging Fund.
‘The Belonging Fund supports families known to be impacted as a result of activities related to immigration, but the entire point is family supports, cost of living, those kinds of things,’ O’Connell told the local outlet.
‘It’s not even intended to be about legal services, so it is about people who have identified food insecurity as a result of possibly losing somebody who was an earner in the household, it is about childcare, it is about basic family needs.’
WCCO Radio Minneapolis: Federal judge dismisses consent decree between U.S. Justice Department and Minneapolis
As expected, a federal judge today granted the United States’ motion to dismiss its consent decree against the City of Minneapolis.
In the filing, the court states:
“The Court has grave misgivings about the proposed consent decree serving the public interest.”
The document adds that the consent decree is “superfluous” due to the city and Minneapolis Police Department entering into an agreement with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights.
Fortunately the police chief is committed to the reforms:
Last week, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said they will continue with reform measures despite the dismissal.
