Raw Story: Staffers quit over Kristi [“Bimbo #2”] Noem’s 4-hour ‘fishing expedition’ polygraphs: report

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi [“Bimbo #2”] Noem’s obsession with tracking down leakers in her department has led to an exodus of employees who would rather quit than listen to threats or be subjected to intrusive polygraph tests.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, the polygraphs that began back in February have continued unabated as she and top adviser Corey Lewandowski have personally singled out employees in numbers that one former official labeled “unprecedented.”

With the Journal’s Michelle Hackman and Tarini Parti labeling what is going on behind closed doors at the agency as a “fishing expedition,” they reported, “… many have said the seeming randomness has created a chilling effect inside the department.”

The report notes that some interrogations that have taken place “in a small interrogation room in Virginia with a one-way mirror,” have lasted up to four hours and that has helped lead to an exodus from the department.

Washington Examiner: Judge rules Trump administration violated court order with migrant flight to Africa

A federal judge ruled that the Trump administration violated an order he issued last month barring officials from deporting people to countries they are not from without first giving them an adequate chance to object to their removal.

The decision from Judge Brian E. Murphy came after a hearing in Boston to consider an emergency motion filed by lawyers on behalf of a group of men who they said were being deported and sent to South Sudan.

When the hearing began, officials from the Department of Homeland Security said eight immigrants were deported Tuesday on a flight. The officials did not say which country the men were being sent to.

Murphy said the government gave the deported men just over 24 hours’ notice that they were being removed from the country. He called the time frame “plainly insufficient.”

“The department’s actions in this case are unquestionably violative of this court’s order,” he said.

And King Donald gets bent all out of shape:

The Trump administration slammed Murphy as an “activist judge” after the hearing, accusing him of trying to protect “criminal illegal immigrant monsters.”

“A local judge in Massachusetts is trying to force the United States to bring back these uniquely barbaric monsters

No, King Donald, they are human beings just like you and I, and they are entitled to their day in court.

Newsweek: ICE arrests multiple migrants outside Arizona court: “Mayhem”

Federal immigration authorities apprehended several individuals at the Phoenix immigration court on Tuesday.

During the incident, one attorney described the scene as “mayhem,” adding that people who believed their cases had been dismissed were taken into custody, the Tucson Sentinel reported.

Isaac Ortega, an immigration attorney in Phoenix, reported that agents arrested his client shortly after a court hearing on Tuesday morning.

According to Ortega, the officials wore masks and did not disclose which agency they represented, identifying themselves only as federal officers.

Gestapo! If they won’t identify themselves and their agency, they shouldn’t be policing.

Knews: AOC Rips ‘Anti-American’ Trump Over Democratic Arrests

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) criticized President Donald Trump and his administration for being “anti-American” following a confrontation involving Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and Democratic lawmakers at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center. Baraka was accused for trespassing and released after arrest. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin accused New Jersey Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman, LaMonica McIver, and Robert Menendez of trespassing and assaulting ICE agents.

Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said, “If anyone’s breaking the law in this situation, it’s not members of Congress, it’s the Department of Homeland Security. It’s people like Tom Homan and Secretary Kristi Noem.” She added, “You lay a finger on someone, on Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman … or any of the representatives that were there, you lay a finger on them, we are going to have a problem. Because the people who are breaking the law are the people not abiding by it.”

Law & Crime: ‘We have concerns’: Appeals court shoots down Trump DHS bid to continue carrying out ‘third country’ deportations

federal appellate court on Friday declined to lift a nationwide injunction that bars the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from carrying out President Donald Trump’s plans to summarily deport immigrants to countries where they are not from, allegedly without due process.

The 1st Circuit Court of Appeals issued the ruling in a two-page order, denying an emergency motion from the government for a stay of an April 18 preliminary injunction. The three-judge panel determined that DHS failed to satisfy the criteria required for such relief, and the court has “concerns regarding the continuing application of the Department of Homeland Security’s March 30 Guidance Regarding Third Country Removals,” among other things, according to the order.

The ruling stems from a class-action lawsuit filed by immigration advocates after DHS issued new guidance authorizing the removal of certain noncitizens to “third countries” not named in their immigration proceedings, and with which they allegedly have no historical or legal ties. The plaintiffs argued that the policy violates the due process clause of the Fifth Amendment, as well as obligations under the Convention Against Torture human rights treaty.

Miami Herald: Multiple Democrats Under Investigation — DHS Accused of ‘Lying’

A confrontation at the Delaney Hall Detention Center in New Jersey may lead to criminal charges against several House Democrats. The incident has prompted an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) into alleged assaults on ICE officers during a protest at the facility. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested for trespassing after ignoring warnings to leave the premises.

I’ve watched the video of the “assaults”. It was the mayor and House representatives who were assaulted by ICE thugs outside the premises.

MSNBC: Trump’s new offer to undocumented immigrants is a bait-and-switch

When it comes to immigration, President Donald Trump’s second term is getting off to a rocky start. Despite promising the “largest deportation operation in history” and forcing thousands of other federal law enforcement officers to drop their normal work and join forces with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, deportations are nowhere near the record levels he has threatened. With no realistic prospect of hitting 1 million deportations per year, as promised, the Trump administration is instead turning to a new idea: paying people to leave on their own and threatening draconian punishments if they don’t. But as with any “deal” Trump offers, anyone considering the offer should read the fine print first.

And some nonsense from King Donald:

… “maybe someday, with a little work, they can come back in if they’re good people,” and DHS announcing in a statement that the program “may help preserve the option for an illegal alien to re-enter the United States legally.”

The odds of that happening are zippo!

India Today: First flight departs US under Trump’s $1,000 ‘self-deport’ deal

  • DHS launched first charter flight for migrants opting self-deport with USD 1,000 stipend
  • Flight carried 64 people from Honduras and Colombia, departing Houston
  • Participants received travel aid, stipend and chance to return legally later

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has conducted its first charter flight for migrants who agreed to “self-deport” under a new program that offers a USD 1,000 stipend to those voluntarily leaving the United States.

The self-deportation program was announced in March. Since then, the administration has paid for some migrants’ tickets to return to their home countries via commercial airlines. Monday’s flight departed Houston at about 9:30 a.m., carrying 64 people from Honduras and Colombia, according to a DHS official.

A “chance to return legally later”? Unlikely as long as King Donald reigns.

Latin Times: Undocumented Florida Woman Fined $1.82 Million by ICE for 20-Year Overstay

An undocumented Honduran woman living in Florida has been fined over $1.82 million by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for failing to depart the country following a 2005 removal order.

The fine, issued in a May 9 notice by ICE’s civil fines department, charged the woman $500 for each day she remained in the United States since the order was issued, totaling $1,821,350. The woman, a mother of three U.S.-born children, is being represented by immigration attorney Michelle Sanchez, who said this is the first time she has seen such a high civil penalty imposed.

“This is ICE terrorizing individuals without even having to go pick them up,” Sanchez told CBS News. “They are terrorizing them by sending these notices where they are fining individuals an exorbitant amount of money that a person sometimes doesn’t even make that amount in their lifetime.”

Raleigh News & Observer: ‘Nullified’: Trump Suffers Blow in Court

A U.S. federal appeals court has temporarily blocked former President Donald Trump’s effort to end benefits from the humanitarian parole program (CHNV) for over 500,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. The First Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston ruled that the administration did not meet the criteria for an emergency intervention to overturn a prior lower court ruling. Federal Judge Indira Talwani previously halted the cancellation of the CHNV ordered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and Trump has since pushed for the Supreme Court to grant him the ability to put an end to the program.

The DHS under Trump has alleged that the CHNV program was misused. Critics argued that its cancellation violates the Immigration and Nationality Act, resulting in detrimental effects for migrants who relied on the established program.

Talwani found that the DHS’s measure did not comply with legal requirements for case-by-case reviews and ordered the reinstatement of the parole process and its associated immigration benefits. Her ruling mandated that notifications sent to individuals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela remain suspended pending further judicial orders.
