Independent: Trump revokes Kamala Harris’ secret service protection, reversing Biden order

Harris is set to begin a promotional tour connected with her forthcoming book next month

President Donald Trump has ordered the Secret Service to stop providing a protection detail and other protective measures for former Vice President Kamala Harris, revoking an order signed in January by then-president Joe Biden to extend her security until January 2026.

Trump issued the directive Thursday in the form of a memorandum to the agency informing officials that they were “hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum” concerning Harris, who under normal circumstances would have lost her protection on July 20, six months after the end of her term.

The end of Harris’s protective detail and the existence of the memorandum were first reported by CNN.

In a statement to the network, Harris adviser Kristen Allen said the former vice president is “grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety.”

Since returning to office, Trump has used his authority over the Secret Service to punish perceived political adversaries by removing previously authorized protective details, even in cases where there have been documented threats to the people in question.

In his first days back in the White House, the president ordered the agency to stop protecting his first-term national security adviser, John Bolton, and his former Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo.

Both men have been on a list of officials targeted for assassination by Iran in retaliation for the Trump-ordered drone strike on Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps leader Qassem Soleimani during the president’s first term.

But Trump nonetheless ordered their protective details to be withdrawn.

In March, he ordered an end to protection for former president Biden’s adult children, including his son Hunter Biden, at the urging of conspiracy theorist and far-right influencer Laura Loomer.

The ex-president had signed a directive extending protection for his adult children for six months after leaving office — something Trump had done for his own family before vacating the White House after losing the 2020 election.

But Trump declined to extend Biden the same courtesy and in a social media post, he expressed his disapproval of what he said were 18 agents assigned to Hunter Biden‘s security detail during his visit to South Africa this week. Hunter’s wife, Melissa Cohen Biden, is originally from South Africa.

“Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States Taxpayer,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“There are as many as 18 people on this Detail, which is ridiculous! He is currently vacationing in, of all places, South Africa, where the Human Rights of people has been strenuously questioned.

Trump also said that Ashley Biden, who he said had 13 agents assigned to her, would be “taken off the list.”

Daily Beast: Gabbard’s Revenge Purge Immediately Runs Into a Major Problem

The Director of National Intelligence stripped more officials of their security clearances after Trump targeted his rivals.

Tulsi Gabbard may have broken the law by publicly identifying dozens of current and former officials while revoking their security clearances, according to a national security lawyer.

Gabbard revealed that 37 people have been targeted in the clearance purge ordered by President Trump, accusing them without evidence of “politicizing and manipulating intelligence, leaking classified intelligence without authorization, and/or committing intentional egregious violations of tradecraft standards.”

Gabbard made the announcement—which comes after Trump stripped the security clearance of his political opponents—by posting a memo from her office on X. The list of 37 individuals targeted includes intelligence officials who concluded that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election, as well as those accused by far-right activist Laura Loomer of lacking loyalty to Trump, according to Axios.

Mark Zaid, an attorney who represents intelligence officers and who is suing the Trump administration to have his own stripped security clearance restored, suggested Gabbard may have landed herself in legal trouble by making the memo public.

“Can you say ‘Privacy Act violation’? I certainly can,” Zaid wrote in a post on X. “Further proof of weaponization and politicization. The vast majority of these individuals are not household names & are dedicated public servants who have worked across multiple presidential administrations.”

Zaid—who previously represented a whistleblower who accused Trump of attempting to extort Ukraine for dirt on former President Joe Biden ahead of the 2020 election—told Axios that a person’s security clearance “is maintained in a protected Privacy Act System of records.”

He added the government “cannot simply release that information without written consent from the individual or the existence of a Routine Use, which I do not believe exists for this purpose.”

Those who lost clearances reportedly include officials who signed a letter supporting Trump’s first impeachment trial, when he was accused of threatening to withhold military aid to Ukraine unless President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed to investigate Hunter Biden’s business dealings ahead of the 2020 election.

Others were targeted online by Loomer, an extremist and conspiracy theorist who has taken credit for multiple people being removed from the Trump administration, citing reasons such as their prior service in the Obama or Biden administrations.

“Thank you, Tulsi! MORE SCALPS,” Loomer posted while sharing Gabbard’s memo.

In response to Zaid’s remarks, White House Spokesman Davis Ingle told the Daily Beast: “President Trump promised to end the weaponization of government against American citizens which is why Director Gabbard rightfully directed the revocation of 37 security clearances from current and former intelligence officials who abused their positions of public trust.”

The Trump administration has stripped numerous national security officials and political opponents of their clearances as part of the president’s campaign of retribution.

Those affected include Trump’s 2024 election rival, former Vice President Kamala Harris. New York Attorney General Letitia James—who prosecuted Trump for filing fraudulent financial filings for years—was also targeted, as was former president Joe Biden and his entire family.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Beast.

Daily Mail: Lawmaker allegedly ‘stuffs ballots’ in swing state that Trump just won

A chilling video has allegedly shown a lawmaker accompanying a friend who stuffed ballots in a swing state that Donald Trump only won by just over 80,000 votes.

Abu Musa, a city council member of Hamtramck, Michigan, was in the passenger seat handing several bundles of what appear to be absentee ballots to the driver.

Musa then watches the driver deposit three stacks of ballots into a drop box.

Michigan State Police confirmed the authenticity of the clip, which was filmed on August 1. It is part of an investigation into council members’ residency requirements.

The alleged ballot box stuffing incident took place just before the city’s latest primary election on August 5 – which Musa won with more than 1,129 votes.

The video comes days after two of Musa’s councilmen colleagues, Muhtasin Sadman and Mohammed Hassan, were charged over forging ballots in the city’s tightly fought 2023 election.

Musa was previously named as ‘under investigation’ in the same conspiracy – but was not charged at the time.

According to a document by Attorney General Dana Nessel requesting a special prosecutor in the 2023 case, Musa’s colleagues ‘conspired to receive unvoted absentee ballots that had been signed by recently naturalized citizens.’

The accused then allegedly proceeded to ‘fill in the candidates of their choosing’ during the city’s 2023 elections, according to the document issued in April.

Musa received the most votes in the August 5 primary election, per unofficial election results released on August 6 – receiving 12.5 percent of total votes in a field of 12 candidates.

Of the total 1,129 votes received by Musa, 843 were cast by absentee ballot. The 286 total of election day votes received by Musa is only the fifth-highest tally.

Hamtramck’s council was embroiled in the election forgery scandal earlier this year – and Sadman and Hassan were charged on August 11. Musa and another council member, Mohammed Alsomiri, were not charged at the time.

The drama was ramped up when Attorney General Nessel then decided to recuse herself from the investigation because of criticism she had faced in the past.

Nessel, a Jewish lesbian, previously criticized policy positions taken by the Muslim-majority council to ban Pride flags from being flown on city-owned property.

The Michigan Attorney General had also faced harsh scrutiny for her prosecutions of pro-Palestinian protestors at the University of Michigan in the wake of October 7.

Nessel was additionally accused of prosecuting the campus protestors due to ‘bias against Muslims and/or people of Arab descent.’

She foresaw similar criticisms coming her way in this ballot forgery case, as five of the defendants ‘are of Arab descent’ – therefore she removed herself.

Hamtamack, a city in Metro Detroit, has a population just over 28,000 residents, which is over 70 percent Muslim. The city became the first in America to be governed by an all-Muslim council in 2022.

Detroit’s Local 4 News reported that the initial investigation began ‘after the city clerk noticed unusual patterns with absentee ballots – including identical handwriting on multiple envelopes and large bundles of ballots submitted at once.’

Hamtramck City Clerk Rana Faraj told Votebeat that ‘state laws are clear that your ballot should only be handled by you or a family member,’ adding that ‘everyone’s cousins around here.’

The council is made up of six members, and three slots are up for election every two years. Members serve four-year terms.

Donald Trump won Michigan’s 15 electoral votes in 2024 with 49.7 percent of the votes to Kamala Harris’ 48.3 percent.

Hamtramck’s Mayor Amer Ghalib made waves last year after endorsing Trump for President as the mayor of America’s first Muslim-majority city.

Trump later nominated Ghalib to be the Ambassador to the State of Kuwait.

Daily Mail have contacted Musa for comment.

Mediaite: The 5 Wildest Moments From Laura Loomer’s Rollercoaster Bill Maher Defamation Case Deposition

Laura Loomer recently sat for a deposition pertaining to her defamation lawsuit against HBO’s Bill Maher, who suggested Loomer might be having an affair with President Donald Trump in September of last year after Loomer accompanied Trump to his one and only presidential debate with Kamala Harris.

It went how you might expect.

LOOMER WAS OFFERED A JOB BY DONALD TRUMP HIMSELF IN 2023

According to Loomer, a self-styled white nationalist who has celebrated the drowning deaths of migrants in the Mediterranean Sea, Trump himself tried to hire her to work on his campaign back in 2023.

“I was actually told that I was going to be working for President Trump when he hired me in his office in March of 2023 during a private meeting with him and Susie Wiles at Mar-a-Lago. And this was during the primary. And President Trump had actually instructed Susie to onboard me to do research, and — research — yeah — research for — and perhaps assist with communications
as well, in the primary,” explained Loomer, who said a New York Times story about her ended up sinking her chances of landing a job with the campaign. “And the president was very impressed by just how well-versed I was. And he was very impressed by my reporting and my understanding of political affairs. And so he said that he wanted to hire me on the spot, even though it was not a job interview.”

…AND THEN AGAIN IN 2024

After being asked if she had ever been offered a job by Trump or members of his staff again, Loomer answered in the affirmative, recalling that Trump had told her “You’re coming to D.C. with me” and that she “had conversations with Susie Wiles that I would have a position at the White House after the election if — if President Trump won.”

“I was promised a position multiple times, not just by President Trump, but also, by Susie Wiles,” she asserted.

LOOMER FORESAW A LUCRATIVE MEDIA CAREER AFTER SERVING TRUMP

After serving Trump in the White House, Loomer believed she would be well set-up to enjoy a cushy, lucrative media career — perhaps on TV.

Check out this exchange between Loomer and HBO lawyer Katherine Bolger:

BOLGER: So other than your claim that the reporting about your response to Mr. Maher stopped you from traveling on the airplane and you say getting a job in administration, is there any other financial damage that was caused by Bill Maher reporting?

LOOMER: As I said before, I would have been paid much more than I was making previously. And who knows what I could have parlayed having that on my resume into in the future. There are people that go on who work for administrations who get to go work at boards. There’s people that get to have foundations. They get to go work in future administrations. They get to, you know, get paid for speaking engagements once they leave their official role with the federal government. You don’t know. You know, there’s people that write books. They — there’s people that get to go become Fox News contributors. They become contributors on mainstream media. Look at — look at somebody like Jen Psaki or Karine Jean-Pierre, for example. You know, they both have shows. Karine Jean-Pierre just announced a book deal today. So when you work for an administration, once the person is out of office, or once you’re done with your job, you know, that could parlay into a lot of speculative opportunities

BOLGER: Speculative opportunities —

LOOMER: It’s not speculative. It’s — it — it really is — it’s compounding, is what it is. It’s compounding damages. It’s punitive damages.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE AND ARBY’S

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Loomer recently reignited their feud, which began last September when Loomer suggested that the White House would “smell like curry” if Harris defeated Trump in a post on X.

“This is appalling and extremely racist. It does not represent who we are as Republicans or MAGA. This does not represent President Trump. This type of behavior should not be tolerated ever,” declared Greene in a quote tweet of Loomer.

Loomer responded by mocking Greene for her infidelity and referencing “the Arby’s in your pants.” That led to the following discussion between her and Bolger in their deposition:

BOLGER: Can you explain to me what it means to say to her that “the Arby’s in her pants”?

LARRY KLAYMAN, LAURA LOOMER’S ATTORNEY: Objection. Relevancy.

BOLGER: Answer the question.

LOOMER: Arby’s sells roast beef.

BOLGER: Right. Can you tell me what — why you were talking about “the Arby’s in her pants”?

LOOMER: Well, it’s just a — an expression.

BOLGER: What is the expression trying to convey?

LOOMER: It conveys the reason why she got a divorce by her own admission.

BOLGER: Because she had roast beef in her pants?

LOOMER: Yeah.

BOLGER: She’d put roast beef in her pants; that’s what you’re trying to say there? You’re literally saying she put Arby’s in her pants?

LOOMER: I’m saying she literally — it’s so ridiculous. I’m saying she literally put Arby’s in her pants. Yes.

KLAYMAN: Objection. Relevancy.

It went on like that for some time.

‘YOU’RE A COWARD’

At one point, Bolger attempted to get Loomer to admit that she was talking about Harris’s vagina when she tweeted that Harris had an “infested snatch,” but Loomer refused, causing Bolger to blow up on her:

BOLGER: You wrote a sentence saying she had an “infested snatch”; what is your basis?

LOOMER: I don’t know what I was referring to, honestly. I could be referring to Kamala Harris, herself.

BOLGER: What? Of course, you’re referring to Kamala Harris.

LOOMER: Yeah. I’m talking about Kamala Harris herself.

BOLGER: You’re talking about her body; you’re talking about her vagina?

LOOMER: No. I’m just talking about Kamala Harris.

BOLGER: Well, a snatch is a vagina; isn’t it?

LOOMER: It’s up for interpretation.

BOLGER: You wrote — stop talking. You wrote a tweet that says that Kamala Harris had an “infested snatch.” Now, be the First Amendment warrior you claim to be and admit that you were saying that the vice president of the United States had an infested vagina. Admit it. Because that’s what you were doing, and everybody knows it.

KLAYMAN: Let’s say it.

LOOMER: This is coercion. You just told me to stop talking. I’m not going to talk. I’m not going to be coerced. You’re — you’re asking me to say something —

BOLGER: God. You’re a coward.

LOOMER: that isn’t true. I’m not a coward.

BOLGER: You’re a coward; you won’t even admit to what you did.

LOOMER: I’m not a coward. I’m just not going to be —

BOLGER: Ms. First Amendment warrior won’t admit it.

Alternet: Donald Trump just debunked his own lie — and it should get him sued | Opinion

Walmart, Apple , and Amazon, the most successful companies in the U.S., base their corporate strategies on data: consumer behavior data, market research, financial, product, and competitive analysis data.

Any CEO who deliberately relied on falsified data, or who demanded cooked books, would be fired immediately — and likely sued by the Board of Directors.

Any CEO of any company who tried to manipulate the appearance of short-term success for his own personal gain, at the expense of long-term viability for the company, would also be fired and likely sued for malfeasance, and worse.

A successful CEO knows that falsifying economic or financial data can lead to charges of securities fraudwire fraud, and other financial crimes, because false data can ruin investors, corporations, and markets overnight.

Enter Donald Trump, whose self-proclaimed governing philosophy is “running the country like it’s a business.” Debunking the lie of his own manufactured image as a “successful businessman,” last Friday Trump angrily fired the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Commissioner because he didn’t like her data — even as he wears 34 felony convictions for falsifying records.

Dr. Erika McEntarfer, a widely respected statistician, enjoyed bipartisan support, including confirmation votes from Marco Rubio and JD Vance. Appointed commissioner under the Biden administration, she holds a Ph.D. in economics from Virginia Tech, and served at the Census Bureau for two decades under both parties prior to her BLS appointment.

By federal law, McEntarfer’s appointment ends in 2028. Trump fired her anyway because he was embarrassed by jobs data that didn’t match his own hype.

In May, the White House said that April’s jobs report “proved” that Trump was “revitalizing” the economy. In June, Trump posted, “GREAT JOBS NUMBERS.” After the Labor Department released revised jobs figures for those months — a common practice because jobs reports are sample projections that get adjusted when actual employer data come in — Trump fired the messenger.

Trump’s penchant for hiding and falsifying data has put American corporations and the economy in more danger. Just as he scrubbed government websites of climate data to bolster his fossil fuel donors, just as he ordered the Smithsonian to remove an exhibit accurately reflecting his own impeachments, Trump thinks reality is whatever he says it is.

As he fantasizes about returning America to the Gilded Age, where robber barons extracted the earth’s resources for unimaginable profit while laborers worked for starvation wages, he’s forgetting that his oligarch donors need accurate economic data too. At least oligarchs creating real products and delivering real services—as opposed to merely speculating in Trump’s image—need real, reliable, and uncooked data.

McEntarfer should sue

When Trump fired McEntarfer in a social media post, he declared that her numbers were “phony.” He wrote on Friday, “In my opinion, today’s Jobs Numbers were RIGGED in order to make the Republicans, and ME, look bad,” adding: “But, the good news is, our Country is doing GREAT!”

He said the numbers had been manipulated for political purposes, and announced he fired McEntarfer as a result.

Trump also baselessly accused McEntarfer of manipulating jobs numbers before the November election to advantage Kamala Harris. Trump said to reporters, “I believe the numbers were phony, just like they were before the election, and there were other times. So you know what I did? I fired her, and you know what? I did the right thing.”

When asked what his source was, he said, “my opinion,” confirming that there was no evidence to back up his reckless claims, claims that permanently tanked the reputation of a celebrated career professional.

Presidents not immune from civil prosecution

No doubt Trump slurred McEntarfer based on his own “opinion” to avoid defamation liability, but an opinion that implies a false fact is still defamatory, it is still actionable, and presidents are not immune from civil lawsuits for defamation.

The four legal elements of defamation are easily found here: false statement; publication; negligence in repeating the falsehood; and reputational harm.

More, a president has immunity from civil lawsuits only for actions taken in furtherance of his core constitutional powers. One of the main “core constitutional powers” of a president is ensuring the faithful execution of laws, such that acting to impede the execution of federal law would fall outside core official responsibilities. (As an aside, even under the disastrous Trump v. US criminal immunity ruling, Trump’s J6 conduct would likely have fallen outside his core function, had it proceeded to trial.)

Trump knowingly and intentionally lied about the BLS commissioner in a manner that directly conflicts with the Department of Labor’s statutory mission; as such, it was not a “core Constitutional function.” Announcing that previous labor reports were “falsified” causes immediate reputational harm to the Commissioner, the Department of Labor, and the US economy overall. It directly impedes the accurate compilation of labor data, a charge mandated by the Wagner-Peyser Act of 1933 as well as the Fair Labor Standards Act.

By implicitly directing that all future US data should be falsified to suit his own political narrative, Trump’s statements not only harm America’s economy, but they hinder rather than aid the faithful execution of laws.

As McEntarfer’s predecessor puts it, McEntarfer’s “totally groundless firing” sets a dangerous precedent and “undermines the statistical mission of the bureau.”

“We need accurate Jobs Numbers,” Trump told reporters, suggesting McEntarfer’s jobs numbers weren’t.

“She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified,” he added, suggesting McEntarfer was neither.

Missing the risible irony as he seeks manipulated jobs data for his own political purposes, Trump added, “Important numbers like this must be fair and accurate, they can’t be manipulated for political purposes.”

MSNBC: Laura Loomer’s White House witch hunt is just getting started

The far-right conspiracy theorist has taken credit for numerous high-level firings over what she claims is “disloyalty” to President Trump.

A self-described “proud Islamophobe” and “pro-white nationalism” influencer is one of the most influential people in the Trump White House — despite not actually working for the administration. And she’s brought a particularly odious form of cancel culture to President Donald Trump’s second term that’s led to well over a dozen White House and federal employees recently fired for wrongthink.

Laura Loomer, 32, is known as much for her overt racism as her peddling of evidence-free conspiracy theories — such as 9/11 was an “inside job,” the Parkland high school shooting was staged, and Ohio was being overrun by “cannibalistic Haitians” who were “eating people’s pets.” Loomer has been described by many news outlets as a personal friend and confidant of Trump’s, and she’s fond of bragging about the “scalps” she’s collected, referring to the former White House and federal employees she successfully targeted for firing.

James Risen, writing in The Guardian, noted that Loomer’s critics insist “she has just been taking credit for moves that Trump was already planning,” but added that “Trump himself has said he takes her seriously, so it may be more accurate to describe her as Trump’s de facto national security adviser.”

Loomer has also referred to herself as Trump’s “loyalty enforcer,” and she has just added a few more “scalps” to her collection.

The Daily Wire — a right-wing partisan site co-founded by MAGA pundit Ben Shapiro — reported that National Security Agency general counsel April Falcon Doss had previously worked for Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., on the Senate Intelligence Committee investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. The Daily Wire’s Luke Rosiak called her a “transparently partisan activist who has written publicly about her opposition to Trump.” As evidence, Rosiak cited Doss’ call “for Trump to be permanently banned from social media for staging an ‘insurrection.’”

Loomer told The New York Times that she “reposted a tweet that exposed her last week and flagged it for the right people.” Doss was fired last week.

Another civil servant recently “Loomer’d” is Jen Easterly, a former director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA), who had her job offer to serve as the distinguished chair of the Military Academy at West Point’s social sciences department rescinded by Army Secretary Dan Driscoll. Loomer earlier this week called Easterly’s job offer a “vetting crisis” and later boasted that “All Biden holdovers must be removed from the Trump admin.”

Loomer has taken credit for at least a dozen other “scalps” for “disloyalty” — including federal prosecutors, directors and aides on the National Security Council and even Trump’s original surgeon general nominee, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, because of her support for the Covid vaccines that Trump helped bring into existence in his first term.

But one of the most striking Loomer-influenced cancellations is the resignation of Dr. Vinay Prasad from his roles as the Food and Drug Administration’s head of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and chief medical and scientific officer.

Prasad — an acolyte of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who made a name for himself during the Covid pandemic by blasting the FDA and other health agencies on social media, podcasts and his blog — was only on the job a little more than two months. But he made his MAHA mark when he overrode the FDA’s vaccine experts’ recommendations on two Covid vaccines, which led directly to the FDA announcing its plan to only recommend Covid shots for people over 65 or with high-risk health conditions.

But Prasad was not spared from MAGA cancel culture, after Loomer dug up some old podcast clips where Prasad was critical of Trump. In a classic case of people supporting the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party being shocked that the leopards subsequently ate their faces, the MAGA-friendly and cancel culture-obsessed Free Press (where Prasad has been a contributing writer) published an editorial decrying Loomer’s “shameful smear campaign against our honorable, decent friend.”

Loomer told Politico that she expects “hundreds” more to be purged for disloyalty to the dear leader. And Loomer is soliciting snitches via an anonymous tip line.

“I’m happy to take people’s tips about disloyal appointees, disloyal staffers and Biden holdovers,” Loomer said. “And I guess you could say that my tip line has come to serve as a form of therapy for Trump administration officials who want to expose their colleagues who should not be in the positions that they’re in.”

We’re a little more than one-eighth of the way through the second Trump administration, and one of its defining features is that it is led by astoundingly unqualified people whose raison d’etat is ruthlessly enforcing ideological orthodoxy and slavish devotion to the president, rather than the country and the Constitution.

And whether you previously worked for people Trump doesn’t like, or you told the objective truth about Trump’s attempted self-coup, or even if you previously criticized him before turning MAGA sycophant, your job is not safe from being eliminated at the behest of a person who during the 2024 election made comments about Vice President Kamala Harris that were so unimpeachably racist they even drew rebukes from loyal Trumpists JD Vance and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Trump’s election was widely seen as a rebuke against the excesses of left-wing cancel culture. But the Loomering of the federal government shows we probably haven’t seen the worst of MAGA cancel culture yet.

When the Trump dictatorship decides to reenact the Night of the Long Knives, Laura will be running the show.

Bradenton Herald: Defiant Mayor Signs Executive Order in Blow to ICE

Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mayor Tim Keller has signed an executive order mandating city departments to report any Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities in city facilities. He reaffirmed Albuquerque’s commitment to civil rights and ensured that city resources will not be used for federal immigration enforcement unless required by law. The action comes in response to the ongoing federal enforcement of immigration measures under President Donald Trump.

Keller said, “From day one, I made it clear that we will not be intimidated by harmful federal policies—and we’ve never wavered from our commitment to civil rights and public safety.” He added, “This Executive Order makes it clear that we will not stand by silently as our neighbors and friends are living in fear, and we will protect due process for all people living in our City.”

The order directs city departments to support families impacted by federal actions in housing, healthcare, jobs, and education. Keller stated that immigrants have added $12 billion annually to New Mexico’s economy.

Keller argued the city must serve all residents, regardless of immigration status. City councilors have planned to draft legislation to codify the executive order following recess.

A spokesperson for Keller stated, “The City actively partners with community organizations to ensure that services, including housing, healthcare, employment, and education assistance are accessible to those impacted by federal immigration actions. These services are provided to all residents and neighbors, regardless of immigration status. We do not inquire about immigration status when offering assistance.”

The spokesperson added, “Albuquerque is proud to welcome immigrants and values the rich diversity of our community. Our focus remains on fostering safety, inclusion, and support for everyone who calls our city home.”

A city spokesperson stated that Albuquerque has worked with community groups to ensure affected residents have equitable access regarding essential services.

Mediaite: Trump Calls for the Prosecutions of Kamala Harris, Beyonce and Oprah in Shocking Post: ‘YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT!’

President Donald Trump is calling for former Vice President Kamala HarrisBeyonceOprah, and Rev. Al Sharpton to be criminally prosecuted for alleged campaign finance violations.

In a shocking post to Truth Social late Saturday, the president accused Beyonce, Oprah and Sharpton of improperly taking money from the Harris campaign.

Here is Trump’s post in full:

“I’m looking at the large amount of money owed by the Democrats, after the Presidential Election, and the fact that they admit to paying, probably illegally, Eleven Million Dollars to singer Beyoncé for an ENDORSEMENT (she never sang, not one note, and left the stage to a booing and angry audience!), Three Million Dollars for “expenses,” to Oprah, Six Hundred Thousand Dollars to very low rated TV “anchor,” Al Sharpton (a total lightweight!), and others to be named for doing, absolutely NOTHING! These ridiculous fees were incorrectly stated in the books and records. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT. IT IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL TO DO SO. Can you imagine what would happen if politicians started paying for people to endorse them. All hell would break out! Kamala, and all of those that received Endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

It is unclear where Trump obtained those figures. Campaign finance records show Beyonce’s production company, Parkwood Entertainment, was paid $165,000 for her appearance at an Oct. 26 rally in Houston. Tina Knowles, Beyonce’s mother, called the claim that her daughter was paid eight figures “a lie.” Records also show Oprah’s production company — Harpo Productions — was given $1 million to put together a live-streamed town hall in Michigan. Sharpton’s National Action Network was paid $500,000, according to records, for get out the vote initiatives. Campaign finance law dictates that are required to pay the fair-market value for event costs.

Still, this is not the first time Trump has floated these accusations — though it is the first time he’s calling for criminal prosecutions. Back in December, Trump wrote, “Are the Democrats allowed to pay $11,000,000, $2,000,000, and $500,000 to get the ENDORSEMENT of Beyoncé, Oprah, and Reverend Al? I don’t think so! Beyoncé didn’t sing, Oprah didn’t do much of anything (she called it “expenses”), and Al is just a third rate Con Man. So what is going on here??? Totally against the law, and I have heard there are many others!!!”

Then in May, he added Bruce Springsteen and Bono to the list — though a records search showed neither man nor any related entities received payouts from the Harris campaign, and Bono didn’t even endorse her.

“HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT?” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISN’T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCÉ? … AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO??? I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter.”

Would somebody please check King Donald into a memory care unit?

Rolling Stone: ICE Raids Aren’t Just a Latino Issue – Black Communities Are Also at Risk

“It’s not just Mexican people they are looking for,” one TikToker told her audience, “it’s all immigrants that are obviously not white”

When ICE detained Rodriguez in February, weeks after filing her green card application, there was no consideration that she’d just given birth two weeks prior. I was just taken away from the child. I was leaking breast milk all over. I was still bleeding because I just had a baby and was on medication but I didn’t get those back.‘”

On Feb. 18, two weeks after having her son via C-section, Monique Rodriguez was battling postpartum depression. The Black mother of two, who was born and raised in St. Catherine Parish in Jamaica, had come to the U.S. in 2022 on a six-month visa and settled in Florida with her husband. But after finding herself alone and overwhelmed from the lack of support, she spiraled. “My husband is American and a first-time dad and was scared of hurting the baby. He kept pushing the baby off on me, which I didn’t like. I was in pain and I was tired and overwhelmed. I got frustrated and I hit my husband,” she says. A family member called the police, resulting in Rodriguez’s arrest. Suddenly, a private domestic dispute led to more serious consequences: When Rodriguez’s husband arrived to bail her out the following day, Immigration and Customs Enforcement was waiting to detain her. Despite being married and having a pending Green Card application, she became one of thousands of immigrants deported this year because of contact with police.

Since Donald Trump took office for the second time, ICE has been raiding immigrant communities across the nation. Prior to the raids, Black immigrants, like Rodriguez, have historically been targeted at higher rates due to systemic racism. With a host of complications, including anti-blackness and colorism in the Latino community — which often leaves Black immigrants out of conversations around protests and solidarity — the future is bleak. And Black immigrants and immigration attorneys are predicting a trickle-down effect to Black communities in America, making them vulnerable even more.

On June 6, protests broke out in Los Angeles — whose population is roughly half Hispanic, and one in five residents live with an undocumented person. On TikTok, Latino creators and activists called on Black creators and community members to protest and stand in solidarity. But to their disappointment, many Black Americans remained silent, some even voicing that the current deportations were not their fight. “Latinos have been completely silent when Black people are getting deported by ICE,” says Alexander Duncan, a Los Angeles resident who made a viral TikTok on the subject. “All of a sudden it impacts them and they want Black people to the front lines.” Prejudice has long disconnected Black and Latino communities — but the blatant dismissal of ICE raids as a Latino issue is off base.

For some Black Americans, the reluctancy to put their bodies on the line isn’t out of apathy but self-preservation. Duncan, who moved from New York City to a predominantly Mexican neighborhood in L.A., was surprised to find the City of Angels segregated. “One of my neighbors, who has done microaggressions, was like ‘I haven’t seen you go to the protests,” he tells Rolling Stone. “I said, ‘Bro, you haven’t spoken to me in six months. Why would you think I’m going to the front lines for you and you’re not even a good neighbor?’”

Following the 2024 elections, many Black Democratic voters disengaged. Nationally, the Latino community’s support for Trump doubled from 2016, when he first won the presidency. Despite notable increases of support for Trump across all marginalized demographics, Latino’s Republican votes set a new record. “Anti-Blackness is a huge sentiment in the Latino community,” says Cesar Flores, an activist and law student in Miami, who also spoke on the matter via TikTok. “I’ve seen a lot of Latinos complain that they aren’t receiving support from the Black community but 70 percent of people in Miami are Latino or foreign born, and 55 percent voted for Trump.” Although 51 percent of the Latino community voted for Kamala Harris overall, Black folks had the highest voting percentage for the Democratic ballot, at 83 percent. For people like Duncan, the 48 percent of Latinos who voted for Trump did so against both the Latino and Black community’s interest. “The Black community feels betrayed,” says Flores. “It’s a common misconception that deportations and raids only affect Latinos, but Black folks are impacted even more negatively by the immigration system.”

The devastation that deportation causes cannot be overstated. When ICE detained Rodriguez in February, weeks after filing her green card application, there was no consideration that she’d just given birth two weeks prior. “I was just taken away from the child. I was leaking breast milk all over. I was still bleeding because I just had a baby and was on medication but I didn’t get those back.” Rodriguez thought her situation was unique until she was transported to a Louisiana detention center and met other detained mothers. “I was probably the only one that had a newborn, but there were women there that were ripped away from babies three months [to] 14 years old,” says Rodriguez.

On May 29, her 30th birthday, Rodriguez was one of 107 people sent to Jamaica. Around the same time, Jermaine Thomas, born on an U.S. Army base in Germany, where his father served for two years, was also flown there. Though his father was born in Jamaica, Thomas has never been there, and, with the exception of his birth, has lived within the U.S. all of his life. “I’m one of the lucky ones,” says Rodriguez, who is now back in Jamaica with her baby and husband, who maintain their American citizenships. “My husband and his mom took care of the baby when I was away. But there’s no process. They’re just taking you away from your kids and some of the kids end up in foster care or are missing.”

In January, Joe Biden posthumously pardoned Marcus Garvey, America’s first notable deportation of a Jamaican migrant in 1927. His faulty conviction of mail fraud set a precedent for convicted Black and brown migrants within the U.S.

“Seventy-six percent of Black migrants are deported because of contact with police and have been in this country for a long time,” says Nana Gyamfi, an immigration attorney and the executive director of the Black Alliance For Just Immigration. A 2021 report from the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants found that while only seven percent of the immigrant population is Black, Black immigrants make up 20 percent of those facing deportation for criminal convictions, including low-level, nonviolent offences. “If you’re from the Caribbean it’s even higher,” says Gyamfi. “For Jamaicans, it’s 98 percent higher. People talk about the Chinese Exclusion Act, but I’ve recently learned that the first people excluded from this country were Haitians.”

On June 27, the Trump administration announced the removal of Temporary Protective Status (TPS) for Haitians starting in September, putting thousands of migrants in jeopardy given Haiti’s political climate. Though a judge ruled it unconstitutional, the threat to Black migrants remains. “You have Black U.S. citizens being grabbed [by ICE] and held for days because they are racially profiling,” says Gyamfi, referring to folks like Thomas and Peter Sean Brown, who was wrongfully detained in Florida and almost deported to Jamaica, despite having proof of citizenship. “Black people are being told their real IDs are not real.” With much of the coverage concerning the ICE raids being based around Latino immigrants, some feel disconnected from the issue, often forgetting that 12 percent of Latinos are Black in the United States. “A lot of the conversation is, ‘ICE isn’t looking for Black people, they’re looking for Hispanics,’” Anayka She, a Black Panamanian TikTok creator, said to her 1.7 million followers. “[But] It’s not just Mexican people they are looking for, it’s all immigrants that are obviously not white.”

“A lot of times, as Black Americans, we don’t realize that people may be Caribbean or West African,” she tells Rolling Stone. Her family moved to the U.S. in the 1980s, after her grandfather worked in the American zone of the Panama Canal and was awarded visas for him and his family. “If I didn’t tell you I was Panamanian, you could assume I was any other ethnicity. [In the media], they depict immigration one way but I wanted to give a different perspective as somebody who is visibly Black.” America’s racism is partly to blame. “Los Angeles has the largest number of Belizeans in the United States but people don’t know because they get mixed in with African Americans,” says Gyamfi. “Black Immigrants are in an invisibilized world because in people’s brains, immigrants are non Black Latinos.”

The path forward is complex. Rodriguez and Sainviluste, whose children are U.S. citizens, hope to come back to America to witness milestones like graduation or marriage. “I want to be able to go and be emotional support,” says Rodriguez.

Yet she feels conflicted. “I came to America battered and bruised, for a new opportunity. I understand there are laws but those laws also stated that if you overstayed, there are ways to situate yourself. But they forced me out.”

Activists like Gyamfi want all Americans, especially those marginalized, to pay attention. “Black folks have been feeling the brunt of the police-to-deportation pipeline and Black people right now are being arrested in immigration court.” In a country where mass incarceration overwhelmingly impacts Black people, Gyamfi sees these deportations as a warning sign. “Trump just recently brought up sending U.S. citizens convicted of crimes to prison colonies all over the world. In this climate, anyone can get it.”
