Atlanta Black Star News: ‘Kids Who Are Trying to Avoid Getting Caught in a Crime’ Kicked to the Curb By Donald Trump’s Abrupt Job Corps Shutdown, Sparking Uproar

Among a cascade of bad news, Tiffany Davis faces an impossible dilemma.

After they lost their home, Davis’ 16-year-old son Carleton moved into Detroit Job Corps on the city’s west side.

On Friday, the career training facility for youths was abruptly shut down. No warning or explanation given. Carleton was one of dozens of inhabitants forced to pack all his belongings into trash bags and relocate.

That heartbreaking choice was foisted upon the Davis’ and other families like theirs by budget cuts ordered by President Donald Trump at the Department of Labor.

Raw Story: ‘Second biggest scandal’: Trump accused of new grift that puts Qatari plane in Shade

“The plane is the second-biggest scandal on this trip,” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) told Raw Story. “The $2 billion crypto investment in Trump stablecoin [by an Emirati firm] is the more offensive grift.”

Now, Trump is unshackled. The president and his sons aren’t even pretending to close shop: they’re expanding, thirsty for deals like the one they signed in April to build a golf club in Qatar.

“What he’s doing is already illegal, so we don’t actually need a statute for that,” Schatz told Raw Story. “Now I would say his corruption complicates the conversation for sure, but I am not one of these people who think we need to make a new law to reiterate that the existing laws shouldn’t be broken.”

As for the confluence of multi-billion dollar crypto investments, real-estate deals and a $400 million plane?

“That’s just what we know,” Whitehouse said. “I don’t think it gets better.”

Miami Herald: ‘So Many Lies’: Trump Ally Faces Disciplinary Inquiry

Justice Department official Ed Martin is under investigation by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel in Washington, which handles attorney discipline. His Senate nomination to serve as U.S. attorney in D.C. stalled, prompting him to inform his staff in a farewell email. Martin claims the investigation violates his confidentiality and threatens his professional standing.

Democratic lawmakers and advocacy groups accused him of using prosecutorial threats to intimidate opponents of President Donald Trump and his associates. Trump replaced Martin with former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, who has been sworn in as interim U.S. attorney.

Trump also appointed Martin as associate deputy attorney general and pardon attorney. Martin will lead a task force investigating the perceived weaponization of federal law enforcement against Trump supporters.

Reuters: US judge blocks Trump from suspending Biden-era migrant ‘parole’ programs

  • Judge orders resumption of Biden-era parole programs
  • Ruling affects migrants from Afghanistan, Latin America, and Ukraine
  • Trump administration seeks Supreme Court intervention against earlier ruling

A U.S. federal judge on Wednesday ordered President Donald Trump’s administration to resume processing applications from migrants seeking work permits or more lasting immigration status who are living in the country temporarily under “parole” programs.

The ruling by District Judge Indira Talwani in Boston will provide relief to thousands of migrants from Afghanistan, Latin America, and Ukraine who were granted a two-year “parole” to live in the country under programs established by Democratic former President Joe Biden’s administration.

The same judge had previously blocked the Trump administration from revoking the parole status of hundreds of thousands of Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans.

Independent: Stephen Miller and Kristi Noem demand ICE agents increase arrests to 3,000 per day: report

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem demanded immigration agents significantly increase daily arrests to 3,000 in a “tense” meeting last week, according to a report.

Miller, President Donald Trump’s top adviser and architect of the administration’s aggressive immigration policies, and Noem told agents they needed to up daily arrests and deportations during the meeting at Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. on May 21, according to Axios.

The figure is approximately triple the number of daily arrests that ICE agents were making at the beginning of the Trump administration, the outlet noted.

Ugly is about to get a lot uglier. We must resist this tyranny!

CBS News: Capitol police chief Thomas Manger says Trump’s pardon of Jan. 6 rioters was “probably one of my worst days in this job”

U.S. Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger, who took charge of the department in the difficult months after the U.S. Capitol siege, is retiring from his position Friday. After the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, he helped rebuild the department’s shrunken staff, beefed up recruitment efforts and bolstered the agency’s intelligence operations and communications to fix weaknesses revealed by the breach of the Capitol.

Manger has been critical of the pardons issued by President Trump to free Capitol rioters who beat, clubbed and gassed Capitol Police and other officers during the attack on the Capitol. He told CBS News that when Mr. Trump issued 1,500 pardons to the suspected and convicted rioters when he took office, it “was probably one of my worst days in this job.”

He also blasted conspiracy theories about Jan. 6 that continue to circulate on social media.

“My folks were here on Jan. 6. They were part of what went on. They were assaulted,” Manger said. “They were in fights. Many of them were injured. They know exactly what happened on Jan. 6. For somebody to make up some story that, ‘Oh, it wasn’t that bad,’ — it is just not true.”

“What a chilling message to law enforcement, because we’ve got a job to do, and we don’t care what the issue is,” Manger continued. “We don’t care what side of the coin you’re on on any particular issue because we have a job to do, to maintain public order and to keep the peace.”

Daily Beast: Paranoid Kash Patel Polygraphs FBI Agents in MAGA Purge

Top brass at the agency are being pushed out as the chief continues his obsessive quest to plug leaks.

The FBI has devolved into chaos amid Director Kash Patel’s ongoing efforts to rid the agency of staff disloyal to the Trump administration.

Patel is now subjecting senior executives to polygraphs at a “rapid rate,” The New York Times reports, as part of a wider effort to stamp out embarrassing news leaks from within the agency.

One senior official told the Times in its exposé that he was forced out last month after being subjected to a lie detector test. He believes he was targeted because he hadn’t told Patel about his wife taking a knee during the 2020 protests against police brutality in Washington, D.C.

Internal critics say the firings, forced retirements, unfair reassignments, and unit shutdowns have not only “obliterated decades of experience in national security” from the agency but also signal that the agency will not brook dissent over the actions of Trump as well as as Vice President J.D. Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, the latter two who were caught up in a leak scandal involving commercial messaging app Signal.

The less qualified you are, the more paranoid you become?

Alternet: Trump-capitulating law firms keep losing in a bad deal that is becoming worse by the day | Opinion

Trump Loses Again

In a 52-page opinion, U.S. District Court Judge John D. Bates—a 2001 appointee of President George W. Bush—rejected the Justice Department’s effort to defend Trump’s executive order targeting Jenner & Block. Trump’s own words doomed it:

Like the others in the series, this order—which takes aim at the global law firm Jenner & Block—makes no bones about why it chose its target: It picked Jenner because of the causes Jenner champions, the clients Jenner represents, and a lawyer Jenner once employed. (Jenner & Block v. U.S. Department of Justice, et al. Civil Action No. 25-916 (JDB) p. 1)

The court left no doubt that Trump had violated the Constitution:

Going after law firms in this way is doubly violative of the Constitution. Most obviously, retaliating against firms for the views embodied in their legal work—and thereby seeking to muzzle them going forward—violates the First Amendment’s central command that government may not “use the power of the State to punish or suppress disfavored expression.” (Id.; citations omitted.)

Describing how Trump’s actions undermine democracy, Judge Bates previewed the fate awaiting similar orders:

This order, like the others, seeks to chill legal representation the administration doesn’t like, thereby insulating the Executive Branch from the judicial check fundamental to the separation of powers. It thus violates the Constitution and the Court will enjoin its operation in full. (Id.; emphasis supplied.)

The firms that challenged Trump remain undefeated in the courtroom.

Raw Story: ‘Lying!’ Karoline [Bimbo #1] Leavitt derided as she claims to ‘debunk’ budget accusations

Social media users railed against Press Secretary Karoline [Bimbo #1] Leavitt for saying the House spending bill, aka “the big, beautiful bill,” will not increase the nation’s deficit.

Independent journalist Aaron Rupar was the first to flag the questionable remarks, uttered at an event Thursday.

“[Bimbo #1] Leavitt: ‘I also want to take the opportunity to debunk some false claims that have been circulating in the press. The blatantly wrong claim that the one big beautiful bill increases the deficit is based on the CBO and other scorekeepers who use shoddy assumptions.’”

Spencer Hakimian told his more than 100,0000 followers on X, “Has there ever been a less intelligent press secretary in U.S. history?”
