Fort Worth Star-Telegram: Trump Escalates Feud With Illinois Over Immigration

President Donald Trump has demanded the imprisonment of Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, accusing them of neglecting to safeguard U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers amid escalating protests over intensified immigration enforcement. A federal appeals court upheld a lower court’s injunction blocking the full deployment of National Guard troops in Illinois, while Operation Midway Blitz has resulted in over 1,000 arrests of undocumented migrants in the Chicago area, according to the Department of Homeland Security. The administration has federalized 300 Illinois and 400 Texas National Guard troops to secure federal sites in Chicago and beyond, a step decried by state and city leaders as an unconstitutional intrusion and discriminatory tactic, prompting lawsuits from Illinois and Chicago to halt the operations.

Trump said, “Chicago Mayor should be in jail for failing to protect (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) Officers!” He added, “Governor Pritzker also!”

Bovino said, “I doubt the governor could fill custard in a pie factory if it came down to it, but what he is adept at is placing his citizens, his law enforcement officers, and his state in jeopardy at the hands of criminals.” Bovino added, “It’s plain and simple: he doesn’t care.”

Fort Worth Star-Telegram: Border Patrol SUV Rammed in Chicago Immigration Arrest

Attorneys with Romanucci & Blandin said a U.S. citizen minor was detained, restrained, and held without family contact for hours during the incident. Romanucci said, “This is how people disappear in autocracies—grabbed off streets, held in unmarked locations, no calls to family, no stated charges, no due process.”

Fort Worth Star-Telegram: Pritzker, Feds Trade Blame After Protest Turns Violent

The Chicago Police Department (CPD) faces allegations of instructing officers to refrain from assisting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents during a violent confrontation involving protesters. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin confirmed that the CPD’s Chief of Patrol ordered officers to stand down, during which an armed assailant, Marimar Martinez, was shot and injured. Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz have been charged in connection with the attack. The incident has escalated tensions, with Illinois officials launching an independent inquiry into the CPD’s response and federal actions.

Fort Worth Star-Telegram: Twelve Democrats Join Anti-ICE Lawsuit

Democratic lawmakers have sued the Trump administration for a rule that requires a seven-day notice before visiting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centers. They argued that the policy has violated federal law, which allows unannounced oversight visits.

Lawmakers argued the new rule blocks their constitutional right to inspect detention centers.

The lawsuit emphasized ongoing concerns regarding blocked congressional access to detention facilities. Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) currently faces federal charges linked to an oversight visit at a New Jersey facility.

….

[Rep. Joe] Neguse said, Blocking Members of Congress from oversight visits to ICE facilities that house or otherwise detain immigrants clearly violates Federal law—and the Trump administration knows it. Such blatant disregard for both the law and the constitutional order by the Trump administration warrants a serious and decisive response, which is why I’m proud to lead the lawsuit we proceeded with earlier today.

[Rep Bennie] Thompson stated, By blocking Members of Congress from visiting ICE detention facilities, the Trump administration is not only preventing us from conducting meaningful oversight of its facilities, it is clearly violating the law. This unprecedented action is just their latest effort to stonewall Congress and the American people. If DHS has nothing to hide, it must follow the law and make its facilities available.

Fort Worth Star-Telegram: Former MSNBC Host Predicts Trump Won’t Leave Office

Former MSNBC anchor Joy Reid has raised concerns regarding the integrity of the upcoming midterm elections, believing President Donald Trump may aim to retain power indefinitely. Reid argued that Trump’s actions, along with those of several Republican lawmakers, have undermined the fairness of future elections.

Reid’s speculation follows her dismissal from MSNBC earlier this year, which she has attributed to her criticism of Trump and other controversial topics.

Reid said, “The way Trump is behaving, he’s not acting like somebody who worries that his party will lose power or that even if somehow we had normal elections and Democrats took control of either the House or the Senate — he’s not acting like somebody who’s worried about the consequences of that.”

Reid criticized Trump’s perceived increase in authoritarian behavior. She expressed doubts about the likelihood of normal elections and called for an extraordinary movement to drive meaningful political change.

Reid said, “I don’t think Trump intends to leave office.” She added, “I’ve been very clear about that. I think he intends to stay in office like Putin until he dies.”

Reid stated, “Whenever Democrats say to me, ‘this is the reason we have to coalesce for 2026,’ I always add to the end of their sentence, ‘Yeah, assuming we actually have free and fair elections.’”

Democratic strategist James Carville also expressed similar fears, warning that Trump could resort to extraordinary measures. He stated, “I don’t put anything past him — nothing — to try to call the election off, to do anything he can.”

And a little humor at the end:

A White House spokesman stated, “President Trump has taken more action to restore the integrity of our elections on behalf of the American people than any president in modern history. According to the Democrats, voter fraud doesn’t exist – but clearly they are already searching for copouts preparing to lose big again in the midterms.”

Fort Worth Star-Telegram: Defense Dept. Authorizes Temporary ICE Assignments

The Department of Defense (DoD) is reportedly encouraging civilian employees to volunteer with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Advocacy groups have voiced concerns regarding the program’s potential effects on immigrant communities. Under the plan, volunteers may serve for up to 180 days, mainly supporting data entry and logistical operations.

A DoD email reads, “Selected Department employees will have a chance to offer critical support to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as they fulfill the President’s intent to ensure a safe and orderly immigration system.”

The USA Jobs listing requires commitment to efficiency and rule of law. Some travel costs may be reimbursed, but no relocation aid is offered, and volunteers must be ready to deploy within 96 hours.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth authorized DoD civilians to aid DHS for up to 120 days. The volunteer roles offer no promotions, may require heavy overtime, and do not need clearances or drug tests.

Hegseth stated, “In support of the President’s priority of securing our borders, I am authorizing the detail of DoD civilian employees to the DHS to support its operations at the United States southern border and with internal immigration enforcement.”

Applications are reportedly open with no set deadline, allowing extensions if needed. A DoD spokesperson stated, “ICE, CBP, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Defense are embracing President Trump’s whole-of-government approach to protecting the American people.”

The DoD spokesperson added, “DOD civilians — who have already undergone rigorous vetting and demonstrated their commitment to serving this nation — are invited to volunteer for temporary ICE assignments to help make America safe again and remove national security threats—including gang members and terrorists from our country.”

Fort Worth Star Telegram: Two Legal Residents Arrested, Sparking Outrage

Law Professor Amelia Wilson stated, “The law contained within the Immigration and Nationality Act is clear.” She added, “The Department of Homeland Security cannot unilaterally ‘revoke’ a permanent resident’s status.”

Hernan Rafael Castro and Gonzalo Ladron de Guevara are two of the latest permanent residents arrested amid heightened immigration enforcement under President Donald Trump. Castro faces charges for allegedly providing false information on his naturalization application, while Guevara was detained after returning from Mexico. These cases have raised concerns among Democratic leaders over the treatment of legal residents and potential violations of due process.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stated, “Possessing a green card is a privilege, not a right.”

Law Professor Amelia Wilson stated, “The law contained within the Immigration and Nationality Act is clear.” She added, “The Department of Homeland Security cannot unilaterally ‘revoke’ a permanent resident’s status.”

Wilson said, “There is a process the agency must follow, including serving the individual with a ‘Notice of Intent to Rescind,’ at which time that individual is entitled to a hearing before an immigration judge.”

Wilson wrote, “During these proceedings, it is the government that bears the burden of proving by clear, unequivocal, and convincing evidence that the permanent resident should have their status taken away. At that point it is the immigration judge—and only the immigration judge—who can effectively strip an individual of their green card.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Arizona charged Castro with falsely denying a past drug arrest on his naturalization form. He has pleaded not guilty and now faces possible deportation.

Guevara was detained after returning from Mexico, where he reportedly scattered his mother’s ashes. His family has reportedly been unable to visit Guevara for over a month.

Fort Worth Star Telegram: ‘You Will Not Stop Us’: DHS Criticizes Anti-ICE Rallies

In the end, the people WILL prevail. King Donald and his legion of suck-ups are on the wrong side of history.

Protests at the Portland ICE facility have continued into August, marking two months of demonstrations. Dozens of individuals have been federally charged in connection with the protests. Some of the allegations have included trespassing and felony assault of an officer.

In June, several police officers reportedly sustained injuries during a violent outbreak at a Portland ICE facility, where a “No Kings” protest drew tens of thousands. The demonstration reportedly turned chaotic when a crowd attacked federal agents and set off fireworks. Reports have indicated that the incident led to the wounding of four officers.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) condemned attacks on law enforcement and the doxxing of ICE agents, vowing to continue enforcement efforts. DHS warned that violence against officers will result in prosecution.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said, “Portland rioters are violently targeting federal law enforcement and we won’t sit idly by and watch these cowards.”

McLaughlin added, “Our officers are facing a 413% increase in assaults against them as they put their lives on the line to arrest murderers, rapists, and gang members.”

McLaughlin stated, “Secretary [Kristi] Noem’s message to the rioters is clear: you will not stop us or slow us down. ICE and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law. And if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

The Portland Police declared the protest an unlawful assembly, warning of possible use of crowd control. They later announced targeted arrests due to criminal activity.

The Portland Police Bureau wrote, “Please move away from the entrance and do not interfere with Police or medical during the process or force may be used against you.”

DHS wrote, “We will NOT be deterred by rioters’ intimidation and threats.” DHS added, “ICE immigration enforcement will only ramp up. The violent targeting of law enforcement in Portland, OR by lawless rioters is despicable, and its leaders must call for it to end.”

Fort Worth Star-Telegram: Major Increase in Non-Criminal Detainees by ICE

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has reported an 800% rise in non-criminal detainees since President Donald Trump took office, reaching a record 51,302 by early June. Only 30% of those detained were convicted criminals. The data suggests immigration enforcement is increasingly targeting non-criminal offenses, which has fueled criticism from Democratic leaders.

Former ICE Director Sarah Saldaña said, “This push on numbers — exclusive of whether or not the job is being done right — is very concerning.”

Saldaña added, “You’re going to have people who are being pushed to the limit, who in a rush may not get things right, including information on a person’s status.”

After Trump took office, the number of non-criminal detainees rose sharply to 7,781. Presently, only four in ten individuals detained by ICE are convicted criminals, marking a 20 percent decline since January.

ICE operations have remained largely under the radar as enforcement has ramped up under the Trump administration. Internal records show only 10% of detainees were convicted of serious crimes, raising concerns about misclassification.

Fort Worth Star-Telegram: ICE Reports Major Arrest — Slams Biden-Era Decision

An ICE spokesperson said, “This criminal alien should never have been roaming the streets of Los Angeles. Not only is he a member of the ruthless Surenos gang, but he also has multiple convictions for murder, assault, and rape or sexual abuse of a minor.”

Wow! Golly gee! You finally caught one of the 6% of real criminals that you are supposed to be catching!

Roberto Carlos Munoz-Guatemala, with a history of sex crimes and assault, was arrested after dragging an ICE officer while fleeing in his vehicle.

And a rapist, too. So far you caught only 11% of them.

If you actually concentrated on catching the murderers and rapists instead of masking up and disappearing families from the streets and neighborhods, you wouldn’t have such a godawful PR problem. Unfortunately, like most pigs, you’re too stupid to learn.
