Daily Beast: ICE Stockpiling Warheads and Chemical Weapons as Lawmaker Fears Trump Planning Strike

Spending went from almost $9 million under Biden in 2024 to $71 million in Trump’s first nine months.

The number of weapons bought by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has reportedly surged 700 percent under President Donald Trump—and even includes chemical agents and warheads.

Federal purchasing logs show ICE spent $71,515,762 on “small arms, ordnance, and ordnance accessories,” including military supplies, weapons, and ammunition, in the nine months between Jan. 20 and Oct. 18.

Alternet: MAGA pastor suggests this Trump official is actually in charge

Suárez, who has voted for Trump three times, said he once believed the president supported immigration reform. But he now blames White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller for policies that created fear in Hispanic churches.

“I don’t blame President Trump as much as I blame Stephen Miller,” he said. “I’m not a Stephen Miller fan. I’m very frustrated with him, and I hold him responsible for a lot of the ideology.”

Raw Story: Trump sued over botched rollout of steep new fee — with no way to pay

President Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” has run into an unforeseen snag that has triggered a lawsuit.

The legislation, signed by Trump earlier this year, cuts over $1 trillion in Medicaid and food assistance programs, and phases out renewable energy and electric vehicle credits, while extending enormous tax cuts that go almost exclusively to wealthy voters. But one of the lesser-discussed changes this bill made was to impose a $100 annual fee on asylum seekers in the United States.

According to Politico, however, this was set up in such an unclear way that there isn’t even a way for asylum seekers to pay this fee, leading to a lawsuit against the administration.

Inquisitr: ICE Deaths Skyrocket Under Trump as ‘Invasion-Style’ Raids Rock U.S. Cities

Deaths climb, helicopters roar, and fear spreads, inside Trump’s deadly new deportation drive.

We hardly see any days when the American immigration system is not seen in the headlines, especially during the reign of President Donald Trump, and once again it has come back, and again not for a good reason. Numerous people have died in ICE custody…. According to chilling new figures shared by Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), 20 migrants have died in ICE detention since Trump took office, the highest single-year toll in decades. By comparison, there were 24 deaths total during Biden’s four years in power.

The surge has sparked national outrage and fear, as reports of violent raids, tear gas, and helicopters flood cities like Chicago, where residents say ICE’s crackdown feels like “a war zone.” They further stated, “They’re Making It a War Zone.” In a fiery interview with CNN, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker blasted the Trump administration’s tactics, saying ICE has “turned Chicago into a battlefield.”

Miami Herald: Journalists Dispute DHS Claims of Portland Unrest

President Donald Trump and White House officials have been accused of exaggerating claims regarding alleged unrest in Portland, contrasting with local journalists’ reports. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has faced significant local pushback for what officials have deemed as misleading narratives. Local journalists have documented mostly routine daytime activity, while the Trump administration has reported ongoing unrest at night.

Trump said, “It’s like the movies you see for the kids, I guess not only the kids, adults also, where you have these bombed-out cities and these bombed-out people.”

Trump added, “Unless they’re playing false tapes, this looks like World War II.”

Journalists have published timestamped images challenging DHS portrayals, primarily reporting on daytime activity. Oregon Public Broadcasting CEO Rachel Smolkin said, “Our OPB team is reporting the facts on the ground as they unfold with as much context as we can offer.”

Newsweek: ICE detains dad after green card was revoked due to teenage crime—Lawyer

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained a Texas father whose green card was revoked due to charges from when he was a teenager, his lawyers and wife told Newsweek.

Roman Surovtsev, now 41 years old, immigrated to the United States from the Soviet Union when he was 4 years old. When he was a teenager, his green card was revoked after he pleaded guilty to charges including carjacking and burglary, NPR reported.

But he was not deported after his prison sentence. Surovtsev is technically stateless, as neither Russia nor Ukraine, the two countries to which the U.S. government initially sought to deport him, has been able to prove him as a citizen, his lawyers Eric Lee and Christopher Godshall-Bennett told Newsweek.

“The Trump administration is trying to send him to a country where he will be drafted into the army and sent to front, where there is a very, very high likelihood of death,” Lee said. “This is somebody that has lived in the United States since he was a child. Yes, he’s made mistakes. He’s paid the price through the criminal process, but he has two young U.S. citizen daughters, a U.S. citizen wife He’s got a job and reformed himself. There’s absolutely no reason why he’s being detained.”

He’s not deportable — neither Russia nor Ukraine will accept him as their citizen — and he’s kept his nose clean for over 20 years. He also has 3 family members (wife, 2 daughters) who are U.S. citizens.

Sometimes people deserve a second chance, and he’s done well. Let him stay!

NBC News: Some Trump critics fear they could be the president’s next target for prosecution

The president has called for indictments of some of his political enemies.

Fear is spreading among some who’ve run afoul of President Donald Trump.

A foreboding that grew out of Trump’s election victory last November has deepened, several people told NBC News, after the Justice Department secured indictments against two public figures who’ve long been in his crosshairs: New York Attorney General Letitia James and former FBI Director James Comey.

Some said they worry that the Trump administration will target them for prosecution, draining their life savings and potentially landing them in jail. In a time of heightened political violence, others said they fear that the president’s most zealous followers may try to do them harm.

Reuters: DHS purchase of business jets during shutdown draws Democrats’ ire

Democrats in Congress on Saturday criticized the Trump administration’s decision to buy two Gulfstream G700 jets for $172 million during the ongoing government shutdown that are to be used by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and other senior leaders.

The U.S. Coast Guard entered into a sole-source contract on Friday, according to a government contracting website. The jets will be used for the Coast Guard’s Long Range Command Control fleet of aircraft.

DHS said in a statement late Friday that the new jets are needed because it currently relies on a Gulfstream CG-101 G550 jet that is over 20 years old, outside of the aircraft’s service life “and well beyond operational usage hours for a corporate aircraft.”

The department said it would not allow the federal shutdown “to slow down this process” of replacing the jet, but Democrats want to know where the money is coming from.
